Maybe a niche question - I know the Socialist Workers Party doesn't have a good reputation in some circles (can't remember why precisely). Does it have any links to stand up to racism or show racism the red card or are they properly separate organisations? (Cross post from mastodon)

Sometimes I can't believe what I see; lanyards should always have a safety breakaway so you can't be strangled with your own lanyard. Hanging your telephone from a lanyard with no breakaway is asking for trouble.

Back in the day, HMRC's employer's helpline was good - didn't have lengthy waiting times and could answer most questions. I've now spent 69 minutes on the phone (most of it on hold) to chase something I asked for at the end of June. I'm now being told to expect a response by near the end of August.

I have a suitcase with a stuck handle. Is this repairable in anyway or so I relegate the suitcase to storing stuff at home?

Wonder what the impact on domestic violence is from the England women's football team winning.

Can anybody help me work out why the Afghan data leak feels familiar/ like I already knew it? Has something similar happened re another country? Is it a plot point in a book?

Turned this fan on last night. It tripped a fuse and smelt like I'd struck a match. Is there anything likely to be repairable inside it? It's some years old: I think I acquired it second hand in about 2010.

So, Young Sheldon, the last three episodes were good but made me cry - (character death and aftermath) (this is a programme I like because it's comedy)

Watching series seven of Young Sheldon on Netflix. Wondering what's available that's similar for when I run out of Young Sheldon.

So can somebody explain why the chanting other than the bit about wishing death on a bit of the Israeli army is offensive? The other bits sound like standard issue protest chanting.

Watching the first episode of Suspicion and it includes places in Oxford that I know and has a plot point involving parked cars outside a College. It's hard to fall into the story when you know how few non-taxi cars you'll see in central Oxford / the overzealous traffic wardens.

Reminded why googling song lyrics isn't always a good idea. The reference to a pink pony club is apparently either a reference to a strip club or an LGBTQ+ club. (I'd been imagining it was something like poking fun at hyperfeminity / the "princess" trope)

(sometimes sharing reactions is reasonable and more reasoned thought can come later). Jesus fucking Christ. Is he trying to start(?) another war?

Talk to me about hairstyles for shoulder length hair that can achieve both not having hair touching the back of my neck and not putting too much tension on my scalp.

Does anybody understand why @bpas.bsky.social opposed @stellacreasy.bsky.social 's amendment and how their respective proposals for abortion law reform differ?

Sometimes we have strong reactions to things - and there's usually a reason for this even if it turns out we're wrong or missing a bit of information.

Another annoying TV thing: scenes that are in unnecessarily dark lighting. I'll take a bit less realism for the ability to watch and see what's happening.

www.savers.co.uk/health-wellb... is the cheapest nasal saline I've found recently. The other smaller cheap one (useful for travel) appears to have disappeared and everybody else's is more expensive for a spray bottle of salty water.

Another annoying TV thing: I want to see fiction where people have enough awareness of personal security to evade social engineering and 'force' the bad guys into a more difficult exercise.

I'm not an expert cross examiner but I know enough about it for TV where it's being done badly to be jarring. You have to ask questions not make long statements. *Stares at Dept. Q*

Learnt something new this evening. The arms of my glasses contain a gel that's a bit like serous fluid in texture and pus in colour. Somehow one side started leaking into my hair and face without me noticing.

I'm still saddened by the Torchwood episode where a child was sacrificed to save the world. That's what I was thinking was going to happen to either Poppy or the baby with Conrad in tonight's Dr Who episode.

Maybe giving something away here. The Equal Treatment Bench Book has been updated following the Supreme Court's decision and now includes content that looks offensive but is more measured than the probably unlawful draft guidance. One of the things a court cares about is enabling people

Today = fixing one problem creates another:-( - somebody cutting stuff for me in the garden cut through my telephone line.
