Pope Alexander looks an awful lot like me if I shaved and lightened my hair.

Alongside the brush set—and thanks to my readers and supporters—I’m also releasing my first free historical font: Myer Scratch, an 18th-century scrimshaw typeface.

Hello, have a picture of Ulysses.

Here's the sample map I made using this set. Urban sets are a bit more advanced, but with a little elbow grease, you can make some compelling maps.

Uly says, “Good evening.” He’s also very eager to put anything in his mouth and give it a few chews.

Hey, meet Ulysses. He's a very good boy.

My brushes hit #3 on Hacker News this morning. Nice little surprise to wake up to.

Here’s the sample map I made using this set. “Ukiyo-e” translates as "picture[s] of the floating world." While the intentional intent was more poetic, I figured it'd be fun to be a bit more literal and use these brushes to make a map of islands and ships drifting among the clouds.

Since this is based on a woodblock print, solid lines, and bolder shapes are at play here. There's all the typical stuff, mountains, buildings, flora, that one finds in standard hill-profile maps—but Hishikawa included much more.

This is my biggest set ever. Over 2000 free brushes! It's the second set in The Moronobu Duo and is based on 東海道分間絵図 or “A Charted Map of the Tōkaidō” a 17th-century ukiyo-e woodblock map by Hishikawa Moronobu.
