And I understand “use mastodon” is an on paper response to this but in practice? Mastodon as it currently is will never be what we need a genuine public square to be
And no I’m not debating the place where I got called the N word eleventy times on the regular

Did they act on information from someone who holds a grudge against her? Because....

just saying, the bad actor capacity is off the charts on that one.

I get they don't want to litigate every suspension but when they suspend completely anodyne accounts who aren't going around suggesting we firebomb Walmarts or calling people slurs or whatever, what are we supposed to think?

So saying "we did it because of content, not identity" -- sure, but the content doesn't seem to be a problem to any website that values free communication?

The thing is, we don't know, and nobody can remember her saying something, for instance, violent, or whatever, that would make people say, "okay, I get why that suspension happened."

Saying, "we didn't suspend her because she researched authoritarian states, we suspended her because she talked about her research"....that's a bizarre distinction.
If you suspended her because of something else, it would be useful to know.

Depends on what it is. Sometimes I will freeze half to keep it a bit longer. Usually a week. Can’t afford to throw food away so it gets consumed.

Red states produce the bulk of our meat, true—though California still produces 8% of American beef.
But the red states’ role as America’s breadbasket is LONG gone. Most red state agro-economy has been redirected from human-grade food to commodity feedstock.
And much of that is on federal welfare.

It goes even deeper than this. The vast bulk of red state agriculture is corn, soybeans or seed crops.
And most of it is not for US human consumption! We export 20% of our corn, half of our soybean and seeds. The rest?
Most of it becomes oil, animal feed or….ETHANOL.
The subsidized fuel additive.

Half the fruits and vegetables in the US come from California, 75% of the nuts. The flyover states like to pretend they do much
