What is it about cultural industries, especially music, that makes everyone forget every single they've learned about modern economies and how current capitalist mechanisms work? Even movies get more criticism of the Disney/MCU slop shit, what is it about pop music that evokes this harsh naiveté?

It's unbridled poptimism and I think it's completely fair to be angry at people defending the PR obfuscations of an increasingly predatory industry. Taylor Swift is simply the strongest example we have atm. Might as well dismiss a criticism of techbros because it focuses on one single company.
