Update: My ballot made it there!

Gas station has us mostly covered though

Belated Halloween post: we were, in fact, too tired for trick or treating. We did a holiday mash-up with my brother and SIL hiding candy around the house for Kid3 to find. Kid3 and I were the only ones who dressed up 😢

Very American-themed costumes in my family: I recycled my Johnny Lawrence costume (which I’m sure none of the trick or treaters in 🇩🇪 recognized) and my mom in CA was Rosie the Riveter.

Europapark yesterday was such a wild success, I’m afraid we’ll end up doing nothing for Halloween tonight. So much fun, but sooo tired.

Experimenta was completely sold out today, but at least the weather was nice so we could take my brother and SIL to a castle in the Pfalz (Hambacher Schloss this time).

I’m so tired I read this as Sebastian Lecornu was a guest on this French signing contest, but apparently he’s just doing an interview at 8 o’clock.

Back at Taco Town today, this time with reinforcements. Kids all had Crunchwraps and devoured them. I had the El Fuego burrito, which was just mildly spicy, but I didn’t opt for jalapeño sauce. They do only use red beans for the burritos though

🚨This is not a drill🚨There is a new Taco Bell “inspired” restaurant on Kaiserstraße, and it’s GOOD! Price point is a little higher than the Bell though. I hope they are able to stay in business.

I lent my good rain jacket and rain pants to Kid1 for his school sailing camp on the North Sea, and of course this is the weather for the rest of the week.

This was really nice! And congrats to the US in the 4x400 and 4x100!

My weather app says it won’t start until 1, but it’s looking pretty ominous!

Learning about German history in the Weimar Era as an American these days progresses from "oh, that seems familiar" to "oh shit" very quickly

Pickling is weirdly addictive. I could chop vegetables and stuff them into jars all evening.

Can the weather stay like this forever? Please and thank you

Frankfurt is not Paris, but it’s still pretty nice.

Kid3‘s selection
August 30, 2025 at 1:33 PM
We made it to the Held der Steine shop. If you like planes, they have a really big selection. Not so many boats, which is Kid3‘s thing. They also have merch.

We‘re going to Frankfurt for a trip to the LEGO store and Chipotle for Kid3‘s belated birthday present, and it only just dawned on me we could have gone to Paris instead.

This either an absolute abomination or sublime, no in between

It was really nice being offline for two days.

At least it’s a good year for blueberries. Kid3 and I managed to pick about a kilo - enough for cobbler AND blueberry syrup.

Very important day in our Dorf: the Kinderflohmarkt, aka the day everyone tries to get old toys out of the house. The rule is that the kids must be the primary sellers. Here Kid2, well rested from yesterday, is trying to attract buyers.

Well, Alnatura is at least kind of on the right track here
