one category of show prep material for TRMS staff is something we've always called "subway reading".

it's something that's not exactly current events or new reporting... but nevertheless relevant food for thought given the news we're in.

today's subway reading:

I’ve spent 3 days researching and writing this piece rebuking the grotesque NYT OpEd by Bret Stephens whitewashing Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.

I hope you take a moment to read, subscribe, and share it with your networks. Let's use truth to stop injustice:

LUTNICK: Generally 10%

DEAN: Walmart has already increased the cost of bananas by 8%

LUTNICK: If you build in America, there is no tariff

I’m in Munich and people keep asking me to decode Vance’s speech. OK: In Vance English “free speech” means “Let Musk run your elections” and “democracy” means “let Russia run your elections.” Now move on. 2025 is about what Europeans do, not what Americans say.

A lot of people cannot grasp that their own personal and individual experience of the world is not universal, and they are totally comfortable showing immense cruelty to those whose experiences diverge from their own. This applies to so many issues that affect vulnerable people & it's a real shame!
