I find it comforting that I'm partly made up of bacteria and fungi and other little critters. My microbiota make me want to be gentle with myself, even when I'm having a bad day. How cool is it to be a planet that has the capacity to think about and even love its inhabitants?

What the Dems offered America was undemocratic too. It wasn’t anti institutional, like Trumpism. But it was shallow on vision for the country, on communication, on engaging with what voters feel, on competitive candidates. When you serve voters a poor meal, they smash the plate.

I was doing an interview yesterday and was asked what I advice I have for right now emotionally. I forgot to say: give a lot of love to people who are doing good work on the big challenges we face. They are battling uphill. Elevate and treasure them.
