Today I'll be thinking about William Dawson, CAMC & Harry G. Dickson Jr, RCAF who died in the First & Second World Wars. Both from London, Ontario, and the same age (22/20) as many of the students that I teach today. It's a privilege to share William & Harry's stories with them every year 🗃️ #cdnhist

The fun thing about doing a Canadian history comp field is that you never know when Granatstein is going to leap out from behind a metaphorical bush when you least expect him.

Happy Halloween from 1988? 1992, 1999, and 2003.
I want to say the 1999 look was for Halloween but that was everyday wear for me when I was an angsty 17 year old.

More thoughts no one asked for: the 2024 rule re-haul completely nerfs the twinned spell metamagic option (goodbye, dual casted haste) but the transmute spell option is ridiculously good.

I am watching this game out of spite because of a bizarre fantasy nhl pool/bet that I made with my PhD office mate (a die hard Leafs fan) in which I inexplicably chose the Kraken solely "on vibes" to perform better than the Leafs for the entire season.

Seven years of almost (or actually) coming in last, half-way point stroopwafel selfies, & reducing my already glacial speeds. Another Phoenix 25k trail race* in the books.
This medal will join its brethren in a cardboard box in my closet.
*Per tradition, I mostly walked after 7-8km. Whoops.

Me, this afternoon, one week prior to the 25k race, forgetting that I registered last year and having not run in 8 months: "Well, shit."

I'm only forty pages in and this is already knocking my socks off. I've read so little about queer spaces in mid 20th century Canada that were not Toronto/Montreal/Vancouver and this is a welcome addition. 🗃️

Made a total fool of myself at London Comic Con with Maggie Robertson & Dave Jones (actors from Baldur's Gate 3.) Asked for some admonishment to stop playing the damn game and finish my comps readings and they delivered.

Time honoured tradition of "avoiding writing the SSHRC proposal by looking through primary sources again." This was a favourite find from TNA this summer - a shelter magazine I had never encountered before for Warren Street station. They made their own logo and I love the rabbit doodle. 🗃️
