Does nobody ever take accountability for killing people anymore?! It seems like almost every single time a pedestrian or cyclist gets hit, the car drives off. Car-induced psychosis?

I called just now and left Cantwell a piece of my mind. Patty Murray's mailbox was full, lol.

Yeah, my last two trips with JAL and ANA were totally forgettable in the best possible sense. Good food, comfy seats, nice staff, nothing memorable happened at all and we arrived ahead of schedule. What more could you want from your half day in a metal tube

I'm mostly just relieved to be off the plane. I like flying the Asian lines more though these days. Almost always spacier, lower load factor, friendly staff and on time. Any American airline is guaranteed misery be the trip long or short.

I moved there for a reason.

We were there 9/10-9/15. Kobe was nice too. The weather was awful though. Never coming to Japan in summer again. Sent you an email with a Japanese manhole cover photo because bsky wouldn't let me upload it here.

Were we in Osaka at the same time???

Hey! I walk past that lot almost every day! At least they left that one little tree up front... for now.

Is Bremerton low because our drivers and pedestrians/cyclists are cool, or because there aren't any pedestrians/cyclists? :)

I've been out walking after dark lately and people are pretty good about giving me a wide berth. I do wear a light and high-viz.

Everyone should have a big happy rally across town instead.

Incumbency advantage and name recognition are real. But so is spoiler effect, and that won't be an issue in the general. Wheeler only got just over half. So there's obviously almost half the city who's ready for someone else.

Thanks! I'll check it out

When and where can we see the results?

Only dropped ours off at City Hall this morning. Normally get them in well in advance, but this one seemed to sneak up on us. Do they send the ballots out with less time for returns on the primaries?

Just got back from a visit home to Tennessee. Always a melancholy trip. I grew up there but it has always felt like a foreign place to me. Glad I'm not a kid there anymore. I've been gone for 15 years but I probably should really be in therapy for what growing up there did to me.

Bainbridge sounds pretty great actually. I am unclear on what the Silverdale thing would really do -- there's already two KT bus lines between Silverdale and Bremerton and they're not *that* slow.
June 6, 2025 at 5:50 PM
I was reading the KT blog with dismay this morning. It seemed to suggest that even the free transfer to a KT bus when returning from Seattle would no longer be included. For two adults making a round trip to Seattle, driving around is coming close to being cost competitive now. That can't be right.

Have you seen Vashon's bicycle tree?

Terrible news. I know they need to fund their service but any time public transit increases their fares, it makes riding less attractive. Especially when they also just increased their fares by $2 (I think). I guess this means the cost of some of my trips is going up by about $5, or about 50%. Boo

I've got one of those RP-10 lots down in Olalla. Thought about building a weekend cabin or something, but I guess it'll be vacant for the foreseeable future. Biggest downside is that it's so far away from everything, and from transit. (Duh.) I'm no longer interested in living in BFE.

Also all the winter Saturday fast ferries. Pretty devastating.

Seattle will feel a lot further away.

WSF with respect to Bremerton reminds me of DeJoy at the Post Office. Run down service levels, then use the fact that nobody uses the service anymore as an excuse to lower service levels further.

Yes. I have seen dozens of "I moved to $x and hated it, and moved back to $y" stories on BI. They must perform well cause they seem to have one for every city pair. I'm getting ready to write my "I moved from Bremerton to NYC (Trenton NJ) and hated it" article. Be watching for it
