I think the idea of how different cultures cope with suddenly being isolated from each other is an interesting one, but from memory not one the show particularly dove into beyond "they became selfish and some went a bit mad max"

It's a thing from star trek discovery. All of the spaceship fuel in the galaxy exploded at the same time and then for a few decades very few people could do warp travel, they fixed it eventually (I honestly forget how)

I was going to have some fun making some fake drivers licenses, and see how wrong they could be and still be accepted, but it turns out just using an image from the 4th or 5th row of google image results for "uk drivers license" works, which really takes the fun out of it.
