Absolutely awesome thread that I want to bring to the attention of .. well everyone tbh, but especially any genetic counselor colleagues on here #GeneChat #AcademicSky 🧪
Historian of eugenics here. I don't normally like to retweet bad arguments, but this is such a fundamental misunderstanding of eugenics, I think it's important to point out. I don't have time to debunk all of the ways this is inaccurate, but I'll highlight a few things and then recommend some books🧵

This is a great thread for anyone who is interested in what we know about sex and how it is determined… and how that relates to gender.
In 1890, the X and Y chromosomes were discovered. It was found that the men who were tested had 46 chromosomes, including an X and a Y, while women who were tested also had 46 chromosomes, including 2 X chromosomes.
So obviously the conclusion was that the Y chromosome defined masculinity.

Finland has moved away from temporary shelters towards housing security solutions with counseling and resources.

Meanwhile, certain conservative politicians seem fixated on involuntary care and punishment, which doesn't solve homelessness.

Give a listen. I’d vote for this guy. How about you?
Trump sent the Guard to scare us.
This man walked right up and spoke for a nation.

This is what power looks like when it speaks. No violence, peaceful protest. ✊🏼

I don't care what the polls or turnout say after one day. The truth is, polls are much less reliable at the local riding level. And a change vote by Conservatives can have very high turnout. #Liberals need to vote in massive numbers in every riding whether they look blue or red. Every vote matters.

To my Canadian colleagues: you should know that a key component of what the US is doing right now involves purging scientists & research programs for ideological impurity & (illegally) reclaiming their funds.

If you don’t want a repeat of what happened down south here in Canada, PP is not your guy
“I think this is the first time a Cdn poli has crossed that line to officially say they want to interfere to control research topics. It could be a very terrible time for us.” Sound familiar?

I don't think he is helping himself with women voters after his biological clock comment, his snarky challenge to a female CBC reporter about crowd size yesterday, and this dismissal of a female CTV reporter today. These women are highly regarded professionals and deserve to be treated as such.

I don't just want to see Pierre Poilievre and the CPC lose, I want to see them so crushed that no major Canadian party ever flirts with or supports the extreme right again. Every vote against the CPC and PPC matters. Be sure to vote. Send them and the world a message.
