Just finished my first weekly review in over a month... I suppose "weekly" isn't really accurate at this point, but I'm happy to get back on the bandwagon. I have to block off time or else it just doesn't happen. It turns out I'm not behind on as many projects as I thought.. that was a relief.

I'm thrilled to be speaking and #Confoo for the first time next year in February in Montreal! I'll be talking about #GraphQL and Web Application Architectures. confoo.ca

Great slide from @martinelli.ch's talk "Goodbye Microservices, Hello Self-Contained Systems" at #JCONUSA25 #IBM #TechXchange

I'm speaking at www.dev2next.com next week about TODOs. I'd still love to get some other perspectives. Do you add them frequently? Do you remove them? Do you process them? What’s the oldest one you’ve seen? What have you seen LLMs do with TODOs in existing code?

Not sure how #java #virtualthreads affect every day development with frameworks like #springboot, #quarkus, #helidon, or #jakartaee? Check out my Services Reloaded session at #JCON USA, part of IBM TechXchange, Oct 6–9 in Orlando, Florida!

Another #gtd weekly review in the can. This time I just did it at home on the deck, taking advantage of the nice weather. Lately I’ve really been enjoying walking during part of it, especially while review projects in #nozbe.

Wohoo! Finished another #gtd weekly review. No major epiphanies; just the comfort of having my commitments in focus. And some hot, but nice weather.... I've started to integrate brisk walks with reviewing next actions for projects, which has been a welcome addition to my routine.

I still need more perspectives on how people and their teams handle TODOs… Do you add them frequently? Do you remove them? Do you process them? What’s the oldest one you’ve seen? What have you seen LLMs do with TODOs in existing code?

Woohoo! Finished another #gtd weekly review. Enjoyed the lovely weather we are having in Richmond, VA. Now I just need to find my Apple Pencil…

For my #dev2next (www.dev2next.com) presentation #TODO or not TODO coming up in September, I'm doing a little research. How do you personally use TODOs? Does your team have a process in place for handling them?

Looking forward to speaking at the Richmond #Java User's Group tonight about #GraphQL! I'll also talk a bit about #MicroProfile GraphQL. rvajug.org/reunions/gra...

Wohoo! I finished another #gtd weekly review. This week I got a better handle on some forgotten personal projects, uncovered more amazing #Nozbe features, and realized what a great work week I had!

On the one hand, #generative #AI in in Slack will be useful. On the other hand, I can see this exacerbating some of the communication misunderstandings and other issues that occur in #Slack, #Teams, and other communication tools...

Using #JetBrains #Junie to help write unit tests for the #JakartaEE #Starter.

After several months of flailing, I started my #gtd weekly reviews again. This year I’m trying something different: go to a fun place (parks preferred over Starbucks), avoid cleaning out email, timebox, and bring only my phone and iPad. One thing that is the same: #nozbe for managing tasks.

Wohoo! I finally got access to #Junie, the #JetBrains #AI agent. I'm curious to see how it compares to others I've been playing with like #Amazon Q Developer.

So I put on my new #devnexus shirt today, then put on my jacket and left the house. I didn’t quite realize I was a walking billboard 😁.

Next week I'll be at @arcofai.bsky.social in Austin, TX talking about #AI agents for building software. There's an amazing line up of speakers and topics. If you still haven't registered, you can get a discount: www.arcofai.com/speaker/9d47...

Final wrap up and raffle at #devnexus!

I'm really enjoying Daniel Oh and James Falkner's Supercharge #Agentic #AI Projects: A DevEx-Driven Approach to #CloudNative Scaffolding. It's nice to see how #Quarkus works with #MCP servers and #langchain4j. #devnexus

Nice to see the #JakartaEE Starter used to create an app that integrates with #langchain4j #Devnexus

Forgot about #RichFaces until we got requests to migrate apps to #PrimeFaces. We're automating this with #openrewrite, effectively updating large, critical legacy apps to secure versions of #Java, #JakartaEE, and #Spring without a full rewrite.

At virtua.tech we've been using Google Workspace for at least 15 years, if not more... I was disappointed to see that they automatically turned on #Gemini for everyone without asking for consent. I certainly don't mind using it, but that seems like an obnoxious way to push people to use a product...
