Made mine the other day. Cran, oj & zest, brown sugar, vanilla. Cheesecloth with a bay leaf, a cinnamon stick and star anise. Boil, simmer. Took a grand total of 9 minutes.

Cooking for Thursday starts today so it’s not a mad crunch at the last minute. Starting with cutting up bread for stuffing and letting it sit in a warm oven to go stale. Cranberry sauce is cooling after a Herculean effort to make it that lasted a whole 9 minutes.

Sunday dinner. Roast pork loin with mustard and leek gravy. Roasted potatoes. Steamed beets with orange glaze and almonds. Wild rice with portobello mushrooms. Cauliflower gratin.

Shelling cranberry beans I got today. I could have taken more. Fresh beans, still in their pods, are such a rarity in my world but fresh are a joy because they’re tastier and meatier. I’ll cook these tomorrow morning & then maybe have them with polenta or farro for dinner.

Smoked trout tart w/ Gruyère & tarragon. Had store bought puff pastry in the freezer to use it up. Would have gotten better results if I had made a pate brise myself & used cream or ricotta for the custard instead of milk. A good first attempt that I’m hoping to serve at a party in November.
