OMG. I was literally googling "serving platters that look like fruit and veg" a couple weeks ago. So expensive, but I want all of these. Plus additional platters and bowls that look like other veg and fruit. Sigh. I won't be buying them, but I can drool.

Astonished that I can eat figs grown on the tree in my Vancouver Island backyard. Hand model is @nalohop.bsky.social #igrewthis

Update on fixing up my lil Writing Shed. Have a desk, daybed, and cuddle bear. Still need insulation, windows, electricity, and drywall.

This spring, I’m renovating a 7x7.5-foot garden shed into a home office. Here’s the first update.

I am astoundingly grateful to the BC Arts Council for a grant to work on my non-fiction book. For the past year, I've been writing (very slowly) about living with an invisible and debilitating chronic illness since my early teens. Can't wait until May, when I'll have time to work on it full-time.

These little feathered harbingers of spring are only about 2 inches tall and huddle together against the wind.

Sunset on campus from the door of Tim Horton's. Just finished teaching the second class of intermediate writing for children and teens. Stopped lugging 40 pounds of books to get a hot chocolate and turned around...

Benefit of living in the Pacific Northwest is that we can go forest bathing at the end of Dec in tees and light jackets.

Isn’t that the most beautiful book cover? Got my holiday reading thanks to @nalohop.bsky.social (and a brand new puzzle) and am ready to cocoon. Bring on the bad weather!

I made “invisible” apple cake this evening. Not-so-invisible apple cake, really, with five sliced apples and only 1/2 a cup of flour. Dad ate a piece, announced he’d had better, then asked for a second slice. Ruby wanted a dab of cream to fall in her mouth but no cake. Tough crowd. 🤪😆😋

Spent most of the day worrying about my US friends and what may be coming for us up north in the next federal election. Highly recommend new Stardew Valley update for a fantastical reprieve. Solves nothing, but blocks out the fear.

First Bluesky post! Since I mentioned the shrimpy Aussie Shepherd in my profile, thought I'd share some pics of Ruby "Stink Butt/Gooseberry/Ratscallion" Slippers herself.
