There's a reason authoritarian regimes crack down on artists first. Because ART speaks to people more than anything else in this world. ART informs our hearts and our minds. Art forms bridges between our souls. Art heals what the world breaks.

So yes. Promote the art. Keep making the art. Please.

Update on fixing up my lil Writing Shed. Have a desk, daybed, and cuddle bear. Still need insulation, windows, electricity, and drywall.

“Don’t look over... Oh, shit, he saw us.”
“No way he can recognize us from there.”
“You’re really tall. Of course he knows it’s you. And I’m always with you.”
“So what? He hates us.”
“Nah. He likes us, but knows I hate him. There’s a difference.”

I am astoundingly grateful to the BC Arts Council for a grant to work on my non-fiction book. For the past year, I've been writing (very slowly) about living with an invisible and debilitating chronic illness since my early teens. Can't wait until May, when I'll have time to work on it full-time.

Whoa. Also, the real Ruby Slippers (dog version) is worth a gazillion times that much.
What is reality?--question of the day: Iconic film, true. But these shoes were a movie prop made with shiny red glass. It's another indication of the absurd amount of money some people now have and ideas of what passes for an investment while others can't pay for health care or food.
