I do programming, and languages, but I’m a bit of a sponge for random knowledge, so I know a little bit about a lot more than just those two things.
This sounds like an absolutely horrible time… wtf is wrong with this man.

Admission of the end of research is important, so much more than simply having answers.

I've seen a particular drop in quality of the code produced by my coworkers leaning on LLMs.

Code running is absolutely not the benchmark for code quality. Being able to read and understand the code so that you can fix problems when they arise is.

Any jackass can trial and error into running code.

The deaf children of measles-infected mothers would also like to have a word. Specifically, about why they have a sign for measles.

We used to not name kids until their Christening, because they may be quick, but they've not passed the threshold.

I was just thinking about this the other day, that we really have no context for the scale of what childhood mortality was. That's good, but also these people have no view of things.

So, it's weird that Seattle felt as foreign as anywhere in Germany, but that's just normal for me.

Doesn't matter how weird my situation is, for me, it's the only life I've known. 😅

I've come to accept that my situation is complex. It's weird being a pretty white partial Hispanic living in Germany, and fluent in English/German, but I'm also as much German as I am Hispanic, so, 🤷‍♀️

I'm treated pretty well as an immigrant, because I'm so well integrated.

It's actually too salty and full of contaminants to consume…

which am I describing?

I'm super sad that I never learned as much Spanish that I maybe could have, had we not been cut off from our Hispanic heritage…

… but it is weird to be bilingual in New Mexico, but it's English/German, not English/Spanish.

And German _is_ also a heritage language for me, so 🤷‍♀️ win some lose some

The effort I put into being understood and understanding others is invisible. People take it for granted.🧵

The term “president” was also chosen as a term devoid of real power, it was simply the person who presided over a meeting.

A procedural figurehead.

Now, it commands the presence of a Head of State, even in many parliamentary systems.

“The courts have made their ruling; and the legislature has passed their statute… now let them enforce them.”

US Presidential Veto was envisioned as a royal assent equivalent, and then it became a political weapon.
