I admire the work that you do Erin, and it would be wonderful if that could be achieved, however from my experiences of therapy, it feels a very long way off! Hopefully the awareness that you are trying to spread will slowly start to make changes.

Yes this is why I would never make a complaint. I was made to feel that everything was my fault, my behaviour and ways of thinking were the reason for being harmed. So why would I complain to the industry that they are part of? Of course I’m going to feel like they would react in the same way.

‘Specialised’ in all the areas I needed help with. He’s left me in a worst position than when I started and pretty much destroyed me emotionally. The way he behaved has confirmed all of my worst thoughts about myself.

Agreed. Too many qualified therapists are not willing to look inward and accept they could have caused incredible damage to a client, they instead place the blame for ruptures or abandonment on the client. It’s their behaviour that made it happen. My last therapist had all the qualifications and 1/2

Yes this!! It makes me so angry that the general consensus is that if a therapist is qualified and regulated they won’t cause harm. They do! And the fact they’re ‘qualified’ makes that harm feel 100 times worse. It’s truly devastating and leaves you thinking you can’t trust any MH professional.
