The unfortunate reality of this team struggling post World Series win. If Gore wasn't repped by Boras I'd push for an extension but we all know free agency is the ultimate destination.

What a dumb penalty there by the Michigan player. Easily could've been tossed.

I'm stoked for this new era in DC.
Some Nationals coaching news: Washington is planning to hire Andrew Aydt as its assistant hitting coach, per sources.

Aydt serves as the assistant director of hitting for Driveline Baseball.

Enright (Steward School grad for my RVA people) made his big league debut in May and was solid for Cleveland, but will unfortunately miss 2026 because of TJS.

The Nationals have added LHP Jake Bennett, OF Christian Franklin and RHP Riley Cornelio to their 40-man roster.

Bennett returned from TJ this year and was solid in the regular season and AFL. Franklin was acquired from the in the Michael Soroka deal at the Deadline. www.mlb.com/milb/prospec...

Dr. Jarrett took ODU to new heights. From his impact on women's sports to improving the University's profile nationally, his leadership was essential and things have not been the same since he stepped away.

A true legend and a great person. Rest well.

This is a neat video featuring Nats CF Jacob Young. Wasn't fully healthy in '25 but the OPS dropped below .600. Defense is excellent but the bat needs work if he wants to stick around.

Hopefully this is a positive start in the right direction.

Found this interesting note: After the 2020 season, Sean Doolittle worked with Mathews during the offseason in Arizona.

Michael Johns will be the Nationals' new bench coach, per Ken Rosenthal. Johns, 50, has worked in the Rays organization since 2008, including 9 seasons as a minor league manager, before becoming Tampa Bay's first base coach in 2024. Already has an established relationship with manager Blake Butera.

AND NOW AN EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS ONE.

College football is fun.
A ridiculous catch just now for Indiana. Wow.

When Sam Petersen was in the lineup this year, he hit.

And that's held true in the Arizona Fall League.

The Nationals prospect slugged his way to the top of this week's Hot Sheet.

This game, and season so far, is karma for Josh Harris saying earlier this year that Commanders is a meaningful name.
