My read of the US Constitution is that the house can't have a recess of more than 3 days without Senate approval. See Article 1, Section 5, Clause 4.

So, is the Senate approving Speaker Johnson's extended vacation?

If you don't know us personally and well enough to vouch for us, don't trust white men. Especially don't trust white men who didn't graduate from college, especially don't trust older white men, but basically assume half the white men you're near like what's happening.

2023 household income by quintile sort of showing why.

Missing in my opinion is a subdivision of the top 20% so the severe spiking of the top 5%, 2%, and 0.1% can be seen. But this still shows that about 20% of US households in 2023 were making below poverty level incomes.

Here's a g-map of the location of the shooting at Dallas ICE on N. Stemmons Fwy. All 3 victims (2 dead) were detainees. The shooter was on the roof of one of the buildings you see here, not sure which one yet.

If you're not from here and looking on a map, find Love airfield and go southwest.

For some reason I feel the urge to post an image of Woodie Guthrie's guitar.

Lest it be buried,

Yesterday the senate voted to table Shumer's amendment requiring the AG to release the Epstein files 51-49. All D and I plus Paul and Hawley voted against tabling it.

Substack will remove sites THAT THEY BECOME AWARE OF that "publish content or fund initiatives that incite violence based on protected classes." They have done this. So why are there still Nazi and extremist right-wing sites on Substack? It's an interpretation. 2/🧵7

The only "good" is that this will likely trigger @johnrogers.bsky.social 's Rule 3: Nothing ever stops until a Rich White Guy goes to jail.

Now that I think of it, this may already be in effect given existing attacks on law firms and corporations.

Rafael Bienvenido Cruz y Díaz aka Ted Cruz voted along with 49 fellow Republican Senators to approve Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. They own it.

Agreed. The army's enlisted force is only about 50% white, and even in the officers 30% are non-white. Which is its own issue but still proves the point.

And now the thing is "DEI" or "DEIA".

Early Tesla prototype.

I mean, we already have five times as many deaths from fires in Tesla vehicles as we did in Ford Pintos. But Pintos didn't automatically lock you in on impacts. That's a lesson you learn from your prototypes; what needs iterated to improve results.

The school shooting at Sandy Hook was 12 years ago today.

I still don't know why we decided active shooter training for schoolchildren was better than gun control.

When you work weekends you can make pizza lunches to deal with Mondays. Pepperoni, black olive, green olive, extra cheese. (Or rather, enough cheese.)

Since there are so many new users, another little share of info. Block early, block often - don't try to tell someone on the internet they're wrong.

How? Down at the bottom of this post you'll see three dots. When you click them you get the menu below. There near the bottom is "block". Click it.
