Probably a repeat comment but interesting that the economics article also running in the same issue says exactly who is receiving snap benefits.
The program provides money for food to households with low or no income in the previous month. Most people who receive SNAP benefits are children, over 60 years old or adults with disabilities. In 2023, the most recent year with available data, 20 percent of SNAP recipients had no income in the past month. Nearly all of those who did have an income made less than 130 percent of the poverty level — about $2,900 a month for a family of three in 2025.

Down from five — Chance died 2 years ago and Kaylee died last year.

That's what I thought. Chance was my only shorthair jack russel and when his hair was short, it was SHORT.

Can we call it militant decency in honor of Sir Terry Pratchett? He didn’t invent the concept but he did cause the phrase to be coined. And radical doesn’t sound as welcoming as militant.
serialephemera Thematically speaking, the most important thing Terry Pratchett taught me was the concept of militant decency. The idea that you can look at the world and its flaws and its injustices and its cruelties and get deeply, intensely angry, and that you can turn that into energy for doing the right thing and making the world a better place. He taught me that the anger itself is not the part I should be fighting. Nobody in my life ever said that before.

Washing instructions for a travel blanket: Hand wash only. Use mild soap. Air dry.

Me: Squirt with Dawn, hit with garden hose, hang on the laundry lines. Check.
Throw sized flannel blanket with a jack Russel on it, two more jack Russels next to her. They’re all on a back porch painted blue next to a field of green grass.

I am innovating! This is what gets me promoted right? Innovation and improvisation?
Two laundry poles with 4 lines run between them. On the first line we have a small dragon rug and three dog place mats. On the second and third lines we have a weighted blanket. Because without any extra support the blanket would drag on the ground where the lines stretch from the weight, an aluminum ladder has been set up under the blanket. This gives the distinct impression of an an aluminum ladder trying to hide under a blanket like a little kid.
