Working out of order on this one. I’ve already seen Park Chan Wook’s loose adaptation, gonna read the original, and eventually track down the Costa-Gavras version

Very little info seems to exist on Godfather's Fury (1978), but that's one heck of a poster image

I watched some higher profile stuff earlier in the week (Marty Supreme, No Other Choice), but yesterday I feasted on new crime(ish) films. Gotta fit in what I can.

Was watching Jeffrey Reiner's also underappreciate Lake George last night, so this was on the brain.

Though my inbox is filled with awards hopefuls, I'm focused on some recent crime blind spots as I'm aiming to have a hardboiled top 10 ready by the end of the month #LastFourWatched

It's that time again. Started and ended where I belong - at the grindhouse. #LastFourWatched

Fully caught up on The Lowdown over the weekend. Music obviously plays a big part in the show, but since I'm an old hardcore guy I was really taken with Dinklage's character rocking Brother Inferior and Hickey patches

Not sure if it’s for the reopening or Holidays on Hennepin (or both), but the trees are already getting lights

New-to-me watches feeling middle of the road to me for this #LastFourWatched Was hoping to like Tatsumi more than I did. I've also been watching The Lowdown 1 ep at a time and absolutely loving it.

A couple of TCFF screenings, one of my favorite new movies this year, and a 30s October watch. #LastFourWatched

One of these things is definitely unlike the others. I'll get right on the contrarian train and say Hamnet was okay and yet it will get nominated for all of the acting awards. Seeing Ozone with a crowd ruled, though! #LastFourWatched

Walking down Hennepin and noticed Urban Skillet was closed. Looks like a permanent state of affairs.

Spent the week watching new stuff. Should probably go back to October viewing this weekend. #LastFourWatched

I was traveling for work earlier this week and didn't have a lot of movie time, but I'm full steam ahead on my Horror Gives Back list of movies tagged both as horror and crime. #LastFourWatched

Quality over quantity this last week. Desperately underseen New Zealand street kid movie, a solid satanic panic doc, what's probably the film of the year, and my brand new 4K of a gritty, NYC crime classic. #LastFourWatched

I wrote up a bunch of comic reviews over at Oddmart on Lyndale. Go check em’ out if you’re in the area

I couldn't muster any enthusiasm for the preview screenings I had invites for this week. Instead I watched some pretty good movies that don't have much to do with each other. #LastFourWatched

Jacques Becker, BOTD. Not only is Touchez Pas au Grisbi an absolute joy of a crime film, it's the feature debut of Lino Ventura.

Some plane watches of varying quality (I also watched some of the Mobland series - starts strong, but seems to falter a bit). Proof of the Man really impressed me. Kind of like the big budget multinational European thrillers (including being a bit bloated) of the 70s but very Japanese.

Caught Stealing was a miss for me. The Blue Iguana, on the other hand, was a real find. It's probably too absurd for a lot of people, but I was on board right from the opening animated title sequence with a Kurtis Blow jam.

Criterion's Nunsploitation lineup for next month is a solid one, have they ever shown Alucarda on the channel before? Curious if there's a new scan floating around out there

Happy #LetterboxdFriday I swear someone threw the movie switch in August and now the theaters are crowded with stuff I'm at least interested in. Go see Americana! #LastFourWatched
