Welp, I've decided to hold them responsible for the actions of the Court as well. They're feckless in the face of the outright ruin of the rule of law. That they're not doing more is damning.

That and the refusal to do anything about the numerous, ongoing, and in some instances foundational conflicts of interest and outright taking of bribes in the form of debt that disappears, vacations, and Recreational Vehicles.

You’re getting bogged down in the particulars of examples. There is plenty government can about inflation - but that’s not the point. The point is transparency. You’re also ignoring the host of problems with not measuring anything for fear of gaming. It’s not perfect.

I’m not suggesting you measure Presidential performance by check call wait times or time to resolution. I’m suggesting you quantify it in terms so large you can’t game them. How do you game inflation? How do you game healthcare outcomes and cost?

I don’t disagree with the premise. However, the notion that qualitative and holistic measuring isn’t gamed is absurd. Grocery prices aren’t up. Tariffs aren’t a tax. We’ve collected trillions in tariffs. How do you combat propaganda and purposeful mud-information?

Maybe a poor dashboard makes you ineligible for re-election. Maybe it means instead of making maximum governor salary of 300k you only get 100k because the government sucked during your admin. Officials have no real skin in the game other than re-election. Clearly that will only get things so far.

I was thinking of a government with a dashboard that consists of data like pot holes fixed, wait times for government services, teacher satisfaction, etc. It just seems clear to me that the threat of getting voted out isn't enough because incumbency is too powerful.

Maybe I'm using the wrong terms. What I'm saying is that rather than pay mayors, city council, and state legislators more money we should find better ways to stop corruption and power grabs. I think transparency is one of those ways.

CEO pay for performance is a stacked deck. If you stop thinking about it in terms of stock options and instead think about how public accountability and transparency works then it makes sense to look at the people who run our government and figure out what makes good outcomes and measure.

I guess what I’m saying is that blindly paying politicians more money to “attract better candidates” does nothing about existing horrible politicians, does nothing for accountability, and does not create better governance.

Politicians need to be paid for performance. We can come up with some KPI surrounding things like the economy, citizen satisfaction, police complaints, infrastructure, school support and then make a scale for compensation. Because I'm not getting behind paying some of these ignorant folk more money.

My thoughts are that stripping healthcare from being tied to employment should be the next big step forward, not a bargaining point. As long as you have to stay employed to get healthcare, the employer has an unfair negotiating advantage and workers will get ripped off.

13. Fix the system that allows the GOP to hold the social safety net hostage every time we have a budget discussion. Eliminate pay for Congress during a shutdown.

12. Someone willing to run on bringing right wing extremism to justice in this country. It needs to be dangerous to be a Nazi in this country. Police reform - get Nazi's out of law enforcement. End ICE. Bring those who gleefully brought violence to the American people to justice.

11. Is willing to begin the process of apologizing for Trump and fix our relationships with our Allies. We are going to have work to do to become a trusted partner and it's going to be difficult and require someone willing to admit our mistakes and work to fix them.
