I'm a software dev with over twenty years of experience and a mother of four. I enjoy playing video games, hiking, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and reading (mostly sci-fi and fantasy). Multiple chronic illnesses, all well-managed at the moment 😊
Sorry I didn't reply earlier - I haven't been online much. But I get it! We have four kids. We all do what we can.

What if instead enough people responded to the hungry with generosity and it brought us all together in joy and mutual trust instead? And then we all united to fix this problem?

Wouldn't that be amazing and wonderful?

I know, it's a daydream. But I'm going to do my small part to make it happen.

At least in my town, there are also weekly protests that get dozens. And in two nearby towns. But unfortunately, we also need to work, eat, feed our families. I think most people can't afford daily protests unless we get a general strike going.

We are getting hundreds to thousands at our protests and marches even in our small town. If you aren't seeing them, it's because they aren't being made visible to you

Look at the photos of US cities from No Kings Day. We are there.

I was reading this before I got married, and we celebrated our 20th anniversary last spring... O.o

I hate that it was needed, but love that Missoula used the power they had to do the right thing in their own little sphere of control 🥰🌈

Finally, a few pics of something found on all the best hikes: Fungi!

Full disclosure, my husband took a couple of these photos. He's a better photographer than I am, so the ones he took are the good ones 😉

Then we stopped off at Maple Creek Park in the lovely town of Maple Falls. We picked the perfect time to hike the loop there - I've never seen so many bleeding heart flowers! The waterfall was down a jarringly steep path, but we could handle it and the view of the falls and the river was worth it

The first stop on the way back was Nooksack Falls - a very short walk from the road, and gorgeously full from the spring snowmelt. The bridge had some impressive art on its support pillars, and the river was also lovely

If this were me, it would be "Chronically Ill Woman Gets so Excited About Night Out That She Flares And Has to Stay Home Sick"

Sooo annoying. I could make scheduled outings with people I disliked, but outings with people I liked had to be impromptu only

That color! I didn't get any great shots last, I was distracted by the sunshine and reflections, but we could see it in the rivers on the way up ❤️

There's a song my daughter pointed me to called "Dragon Madness" by Menagerie that captures this foolishness very well

Yes! The analogy that resonated for me was "walking a marathon" - I'm in this for life, but I also have to take it slow and pace myself. I can't run, even if everyone around me is doing so, but I can still finish the race and feel proud of myself.
