I'm a software dev with over twenty years of experience and a mother of four. I enjoy playing video games, hiking, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and reading (mostly sci-fi and fantasy). Multiple chronic illnesses, all well-managed at the moment 😊
Aurora hunting at Padilla Bay tonight. I got a lovely photo of the sunset reflecting in the water, just a smidge of aurora arcing over the mountain - and STEVE showed up, to round the night out!

Finally, a few pics of something found on all the best hikes: Fungi!

Full disclosure, my husband took a couple of these photos. He's a better photographer than I am, so the ones he took are the good ones 😉

Then we stopped off at Maple Creek Park in the lovely town of Maple Falls. We picked the perfect time to hike the loop there - I've never seen so many bleeding heart flowers! The waterfall was down a jarringly steep path, but we could handle it and the view of the falls and the river was worth it

The first stop on the way back was Nooksack Falls - a very short walk from the road, and gorgeously full from the spring snowmelt. The bridge had some impressive art on its support pillars, and the river was also lovely

This week's adventure: Mount Baker, at Heather Meadows. There was too much snow for hiking - the trail was covered with several feet of snow still. So we took photos, walked in the snow a bit, and then drove back down the mountain. We stopped off for small hikes on the way back

My husband and I took a weekend trip up Highway 20, stopping by Diablo Lake and then going a bit further for the views.

I think this flourless chocolate cake with ganache, stabilized whipped cream, and raspberries for Easter came out lovely (and delicious!) - if I do say so myself 🥰

I'm slow to post photos, lol!

I was surprised to see this unusually clear headline in the NYT

It does a lot of other bad things also - here's the snippet I'm referring to

And this one was hunting! We nabbed a bunch of photos of it. There was also a giant eagle of some sort that kept sweeping over the slough and startling flicks of smaller birds into the air. I didn't include these two photos in the initial batch because they have smaller details of interest

My husband and I walked through Wiley Slough yesterday. I really missed this trail while they worked on the dikes! There are always so many birds here, and no exception on this trip. I haven't worked on my bird identification skills that much, but this place makes me want to master bird watching.

I've been living in the Skagit Valley area for four years now, and somehow this is the first time I've hiked to the summit of Mt. Erie (a very small "mountain" in Anacortes). My hike started by Whistle Lake, ended with sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Skagit Valley (and then I hiked back)

We went to Vegas for winter break. Our teens were eager to visit Omega Mart - and we did, and had a great time there! Photos are Red Rock and the Vegas strip through the window of our departing plane

My SO got this excellent photo of Anacortes from the ferry

Some pics from a home with my SO at the Northern State Recreation Area last weekend - a beautiful set of trails!
