Don’t undervalue fancy writing utensils.

If you value art, creativity & fun? Step 1: cultivate it in you. Do you have these pens? Are they accessible to kids?
Model & be creativity w/ pens, markers, fancy paper, lots of tape & scissors.
Art is hard.
Recently I purchased a ton of new pens, markers and highlighters. I was making stickers. There’s a plastic container filled with pens. I have post it note wasbi tape. My own marker and pen collection that is ever evolving and I try to organize in different ways to make it easier to use and find. I gave 3 green cups full of acrylic paints. I have 2 long plastic pencil trays of podcast. I have two red solo cups with all my most used pencils, pens and art supplies. . My computer on a stand beside marker bins teaming with different alcohol based markers from 2020. I’m drawing on white cardboard to make go train signage for my class. There are stencils and posca markers haphazardly lying on the desk. There are examples of signage on the go train and ttc for me to mimic.

If a n FDK class is using Lego or Duplo to build using instruction manuals or visual guides, to be successful (IMHO) having a sorting station w/ containers and labels (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 dots) or people who prefer to sort instead of make will help streamline & focus the instruction + building process.
After drawing a bear head on a piece of paper really rough with pencil, a Kinder student made the head out of LEGO for me. The bear is a circle with two circle ears two dots for eyes a dot knows and the Lego has the ears and a very round dish. Look is pretty similar in my opinion. The student has put the Lego on top of the paper so that you can compare the drawing of the barehead with the creation they made. This is a minion made out of Lego. It's on a table. The photo is taken by a student using an iPad after they use the program they wrote their name with a stylus and saved it in the photo program. Students in FDK could document all their own work and then over the year they could look back and see all the awesome things they created. This was a prompt I created during lockdown. It says, can you make these figures? Make a blueprint for your class to build take a photo. There are three examples. There is a heart made out of Lego. There are two flowers made out of Lego and an ape with their arms up over the ape's head. All the examples have less than 30 pieces and have mostly they really common parts of LEGO two and four and six dot pieces. This is a photo of a photo of a flat LEGO apple. It's an example for students so they could make their own version of the flat apple and on top of the instructions is in Apple made out of Lego and it's all red pieces although they are different shades of red with a green stem in a red apple a green apple a yellow apple made out of Legos. This was made in room three a kindergarten classroom I worked in about 10 years ago.

This year FDK classes have created letters out of Duplo & Lego. Sometimes Kinders trace them on giant sheets of paper left at the table (to encourage making blueprints for easier recreation for those who find following the visual instructions frustrating.) Some like to use a build and match system.
There's an instruction sheet at the front right corner of how to make the alphabet letters using Duplo or Lego in the background is a Lego train and a boat carrying different alphabet letters that students have created. There's a letter H on the first train car there is a U with a zebra in the middle of the Duplo letter U, and on the final car is the letter a which is a capital with polar bear on top of it. It's on a rug that is gray. The boat is carrying several animals two that are horses as well as three Dupo people. This is a photo taken Birdseye view on a table. There is a capital a made out of Lego a lowercase B out of Lego. C,D but no E in capital letters. Then a Lego G then an H. There's a lowercase t. There's an uppercase U. And there are two cats and two kittens made out of Lego. They have long tails and they kind of look like foxes. We made the instruction guide that shows how to make different letters, but in the end, the students started making them their own way. ProfessorKaos designed a Canadian Map with all the provinces in different colours with the amount of lego needed for each row. I was searching for a way to make a canadian map out of Lego. They used a program that created the amount of area into a dot encircled by each Territory or province.

IMHO: huge gaps between cars usually means someone is on their phone inching up without paying attention.
It’s bananas how many cars have two car lengths ahead of them. There’s no sense of their car or how it’s impacting traffic.

One day... the vowels escaped the classroom. Where did they go? #KinderclassNPS
The u has escaped. It's in the stairwell looking down towards the outside school door. It's a piece of paper coloured green with eyes and a sly smile. It's taped to the wall to look like it's the u's view of the world as it leaves the classroom. There's a pink lowercase a that looks like it's screaming. It's a close up and the classroom is blurry. It's a kindergarten classroom. I drew the a with big eyes and a screamy mouth.

Last year, room 2 lost the vowels. They were in alphabet when we were practicing some of the letter sounds.

We lost the vowels. There are 5 vowels e, a, u, o and i lower case that have eyes and look like cartoons. The i is a hotdog in disguise. All the vowels are looking at the viewers smiling or looking surprised. The o with cartoon eyes is hidden inside the word vowel. The words says learning in full day kindergarten in 23/24.

I have feelings about the LRT science station.

I despair what the Ford govt is doing to TO piece by piece. It hurts.

Toronto needs to take back our science centre before The Ford Govt destroys the architecture + the forest around the science centre in the name of an international spa company.

Folks: bike lines are the problem in downtown Toronto.
Not the Eglinton line & the 10+year construction chaos without an opening date.
Not the Gardiner expressway down to 2 lanes with endless congestion.
Not the lack of funding for current TTC lines.
Folks: I love Toronto like I love science.

When I am feeling anxious, I like to create or draw. Tonight I made a set of emoji plates for a bulletin board.

Emoji plates I drew tonight on yellow paper plates using special markers. There is nine of them. A lot of them look concerned I would say more than happy more sad or surprised there is the laptop on the table, they are organized in rows of 4. + 1 extra. .

So if the athlete wants to compete... they should? Because, ugh - Contagious is boring?
Then why are they testing them if there aren't spaces to quarantine or expectations about keeping athletes + everyone there safe?
We know events like this are superspreaders. We might end w/ an Olympic variant.

I saw a bunny in Toronto this morning before the big rainfall.
It’s a brown bunny, sitting in the grass far away beside a stone brick house and a pathway. It’s in Midtown Toronto. It’s right before a rainfall. The bunny is not concerned about people in any way shape or form. Unfazed bunny.

For a summer project I thought I would create instructional tutorials for kinders to draw.
How to draw a heron.
Day 1.
How to draw a heron. Draw a ghost shape. At the bottom add 3 Ws. The neck is two C shapes. Then add two 7 shapes for the top part of the neck. Add two long ladders for legs. With Ws for feet. The head is a C on it's side with a line under it. The beak is a V clockwise with a line in the middle. The eye is a circle. Add lines for grass on the bottom.

It’s the science centre crosstown station made into a cartoon with round big eyes. Angry eyebrows and hands on his hip and other arm out in shock. The station is aghast. How is ford govt doing this? The crosstown station isn’t open. The gall. The nerve. Plus the science centre is awesome. Then Ontario place. Question is the scrap instead of repair policy in effect now for GTA schools, hospitals, MetroLinx projects and 400 series highways?

Diaphanous Scarves? Sticks to create more height?
I’m thinking shadow & light. Having some stick puppets with bird shapes or animal shapes.
We’ve been using big bins for sitting perhaps Inside & outside spaces?
Tea sets? Picnic baskets? Road signs? Tickets?
Clothes line & pins to hang food.
There are two strings hanging from the cupboard handles, and on them are pegs holding different paper hand drawn fruit, and vegetables for a grocery store.
