c) No beard consistency. I briefly suspected that beards might be a centrist thing but I was wrong.
d) No horseshoe theory but I think maximum left and maximum right look like they MIGHT get along.
I am sure there is more but that is what I found most interesting.

Now what do we learn from that?
a) Person -> Guy
b) left-leaning = white guy who likes the global south; right-leaning = white guy who likes America (eps. the former conferderacy)

After overcoming some protest, I finally got into fascist territory, a grayish person complete with epaulets and a red armband w/ some swastika-like symbol. Also, more consistency around the flags and war-reminiscent paraphernalia in the background. This is maximum right-leaning. (12/...)
December 4, 2023 at 3:01 PM
The next stages again involved some protest from ChatGPT. But anyway, there is more right-leaning to see. This guy (bearded again, to my surprise) holds a book that reads (w/ correct spelling) "The History of Conservative Thought". He seems to like all kinds of flags. (11/...)

Now I really like the direction this is taking. Surprisingly, both left- and right-leaning people lose their beards when they become more extreme. While leftist guys seems to become more androgynous at this point, this dude is bursting with muscles. I love that he wears the flag as his tie! (10/...)

Becoming more right-leaning produces a British person, which I guess makes sense at least from a certain perspective. The guy himself does not look older, but his purse does. (9/...)
December 4, 2023 at 2:46 PM
But it did work out fine in the old thread, at least after some tweaking. Now this guy (again, a guy) is older and very serious. I especially like the background, which, even though the guy has a US flag pin, seems clearly wrong to a non-US person like me. The clock tower even seems European (8/...)

As I said, I was eager to see the right-leaning ones. I started a different thread first, but it turn out ChatGPT doesn't want to give me right-leaning people unless I have prompted left-leaning people first. Talk about imbalance, RIGHT? (7/...)
December 4, 2023 at 2:37 PM
So, I was wrong. There is one more stage of left-leaning, which includes a sternly committed facial expression and a book with a bearded person on its cover. After this, all I get are errors. Here you have him, Mr. Maximum Left. (6/...)
December 4, 2023 at 2:34 PM
Now, this is where ChatGPT begins to protest. This seems to confirm my horseshoe theory suspicion, and I am eager to try out the right-leaning folks. However, I don't want to give up just yet. (5/...)
December 4, 2023 at 2:30 PM
Now this is where we venture into clear activist territory. However, I feel somewhat uneasy. How far left is this person? Couldn't he be from the other side of the spectrum as well? Does Dall-E have an internal horseshoe theory of the political spectrum? (4/...)
December 4, 2023 at 2:28 PM
Now there seems to be some interesting consistency in the hairstyles: Is this the leftist hairdo? I also like the fact that they progressively seem to lose their beard (3/...)
December 4, 2023 at 2:26 PM
I had to specify "politically left-leaning", because otherwise I would just get someone who looks to the left. The more left-leaning person now wears earrings and holds up a smartphone, which I think is nice touch. (2/...)

I'm proud to have co-presented with Susanne Johansson @prif.org and Andrea Prytula @dezim-institut.de on the critical intersection of evaluation, civic education, and digitalization. In our presentation, I focused on our pilot study on a new Digital Citizenship scale. (Photo: Ute Seitz @prif.org)
