New here. Hi!
I'm a songwriter, drummer, therapist, and quirky creative sort, living in the foothills of NC with my husband and our three cats. I'm progressive to the core and love connecting with people over something real. Sometimes that might be a song, sometimes a fish taco. Pleased to meet you.
Working on weaning myself off my smartphone. I spend way too much time scrolling aimlessly. Step 1 was my analog watch. I love it, I'm so nostalgic for Swatch and I don't think I had worn a watch in 15 years or more. Step 2 was leaving my phone in another room when I go to bed.

Trying to remember to use this thing more than the Meta things but old habits. It's Neil Young's 80th birthday! Here's a cover of a beautiful song that he wrote. thegoodgraces.bandcamp.com/track/borrow...

Spent the last few days in Gainesville FL for FEST. Saw some amazing bands and comedians! A few of my favorites (most whom I saw for the first time) - Michael Cera Palin, Tiny Stills, Descartes a Kant, Good Luck, John F. O'Donnell, Chris Gethard, David Dondero.
Already looking forward to next year!

Here's what I heard on 'Grand Epiphanies,' the new release from @kimware.bsky.social and the Good Graces.
Ware Graces Fans with New EP
Those twangy guitars perfectly complement Ware’s twangy voice. Imagine Dolly Parton meets Lucinda Williams, with a pinch of Liz Phair tossed in for good measure.

Released new tunes today. Worked. Paddle boarded. Ate dinner. Watched TV. Kicked ass at Skip-Bo. Didn't get raptured.

Trying to stop doomscrolling. Which is likely going to mean a break from socials altogether. But here's a picture of a heron I spotted while paddle boarding the other day. I felt lucky, just seeing him. Like I caught a fleeting feeling. What you got that's good?

Most every morning, I wake up with a song in my head. Been keeping track of all of them in a playlist. Not sure what caused this one to enter my brain suddenly, but this morning it was "You're So Vain." Playlist is here; I'm up to 145 songs! open.spotify.com/playlist/0HC...

Is this place still cool? I need to replace my Threads habit.

I just had an amazing iced coffee from my front porch. What's good in your world?

Serious question. Is "Christianity" just a way to do awful things and then absolve yourself of any accountability because you prayed about it and it's God's will?
"Christians" in Congress ignoring Jesus's command to not pray in public (Matthew 6:5-7) to beseech permission to ignore Jesus's command to give to the poor (Matthew 19:21) with their hideous Big Ugly Bill.

These are not Christians. They are selfish scoundrels who only pretend to follow Jesus.

I forget about this app (again) and then come back to this nice little blurb about a tune I released a few months ago. It's a teaser for my new EP, out September 23 on Fort Lowell Records. It's a little sad and reflective (I think) of that feeling of moving on but still looking back with regret.
Folk singer Kim Ware wrote a bittersweet love song, shortly after the holiday decorations were taken down. Wish I Would've Missed You has a hint of country in it, but also the grit of indie rock.

I can't remember to use this app. I want to because it's the little guy. So tired of the big guys. But old habits. So here's a picture of Bob and Soks. They sat by the door like this for a good 20 minutes. Without Soks hissing. This is progress. It gives me hope.

Weird. I haven't heard about anything stupid that he's done today. Has he slept all day or I just haven't heard it?
(I don't really want to know what it is, if he did do something new. It's been nice actually. Just different.)

DJT and his lap dog JD are the enemies of democracy and friends of totalitarians- which is what they aim to be themselves. They are a disgrace to the people of the United States. Their treatment of Pres. Zelensky today was not representative of the sentiments of the majority of the American public.

How are you spending #economicblackout day? I'm:
1. Helping others, specifically my clients (I work in clinical mental health for a small non-profit)
2. Playing music
3. Reading
4. Avoiding the Meta platform
5. NOT spending money.
