@futurebird@sauropods.win Perhaps something devious with accelerometers. Obviously if they're not moving they're not being worn, but maybe the movements when being worn on a hand are different enough from being in a bag or pocket? Like whatever witchcraft smartwatches use to count steps...

@quixoticgeek@social.v.st In that case, a hammer would probably be useful.

@kaiser_franz@infosec.exchange @mattblaze@federate.social I'd settle for the chirping latching on, tbh. Used to have a system where one would do the 3am chirp, followed 20 seconds later by all the others on the wireless network. So you'd have to leap out of bed and position yourself in strategic […]

@licho@kolektiva.social @quixoticgeek@social.v.st Yes, I know all that. My point was that it only makes sense to overcome all those engineering challenges if there's a compelling reason, like the people in the Star Trek space station needing a super low-latency connection, or other science […]

@volpeon@icy.wyvern.rip They've kept their Large Boulder The Size Of A Small Boulder Day decorations up a bit late this year...

@futurebird@sauropods.win This sounds like something Pterry would have written.

@dave@basilisk.gallery I think people are perfectly capable of being shitty about all sorts of impairments, but there's something about resenting people for not hearing you that really irks me.

(Disclaimer: I had mild hearing loss intermittently as a child, and my partner is deaf. I don't see […]

@quixoticgeek@social.v.st @iFixit@mastodon.social Nice. Obviously it wouldn't have come loose if it was held firmly in place with glue...
