This week I've been testing out how the white glaze Claymakers interacts with some commercial glazes. I've made some of my most fiddly pieces even more fiddly but it's massively paid off!

Man I've got to say, it's wild that I feel more stable in my career as an artist right now than friends and family who have graduate degrees in medical research. Not that I'm financially stable, but at least I know I'm not fired tomorrow.

The kiln gods have been kind to me today. I'm so proud of my octopus grotto. I'll probably take a better picture later but for now I shall bask in relief it survived.

We all contain multitudes. For me it's throwing teeny tiny and really big.

I am working out of a public library and there are a good number of people who seem to be on hard times using the facilities for various reasons like job searching, entertainment, charging peripherals, using the bathroom, etc., and I am struck by how important it is that libraries continue to exist

Mini teapots are great to make, especially because they don't have to work. The dandelion is for scale.

🏺Roman Samian Ware, terra sigillata, is often viewed as relatively high status pottery, it is certainly better quality than the average locally made pottery. Which begs the question why is it so often very thickly made. youtu.be/MQjGldZWwkw?...

When I started doing more carved work I immediately started getting asked for yarn bowls. I resisted it for a while because they can be deceptively difficult, the rims tend to warp, as well as the loop itself. My solution, simply keep carving.

Every season of great pottery throwdown, I’m like ‘YAY BIG MEN CRYING OVER POTS’ and then every final, it’s me, I’m the one crying over pots.
