obfuscation of how media is produced makes you believe media was only made for the sake of art. without realizing most media is created with only profit in mind, you fall into the trap of believing art can be saved if it was only consumed more intelligently, and not if it was freed from the reigns

i dont think ill ever turn my oc into a comic or anything. he'll just stay a zine. my writing isn't good enough to flesh out an interesting enough story. so with only some context and a lot of mystery, the images work way better

thats why crash was just ok imo. it is still very good but the cars were just the setting. is like having sex under the moon and saying its about moon sex. the cars needed to be way more involved

my stint in fandom showed me that some ppl really do see fandom as community. i don't want to say it's not, or that online relationships aren't real, but i can tell for some they really regard fandom as a space where they get to connect with others. i think they really crave that connection

my personal take on this is that with being publisher is to be represented in some way by a company. there is another layer of separation when you release ur work via a "third party" so to speak. when ppl buy, its towards the company, which circles back to you
