Deleting the account frees up the username, which would be even more mortifying if someone used it and proceeded to act as though they were Alex in his absence.

Perhaps it was a little naive of me and everyone else on the team to think about the art before the fandom, but I also think we need to stop normalizing this behavior and giving scapegoats to the people doing these things.
