I love how the movie's like "Yeah Kong gets powered up by electricity because shut up."

Anyways that was technically worse than Raids Again, but I found it more entertaining.

This movie's kinda dogshit but it's at least fun bad.

The way the dub pronounces Hokkaido is sending me. It's like they took a quick glance at the word and just going off from memory. It reminds me of when I heard someone pronounce Kauai as "Cow-ee".

Anyways, time to watch Godzilla and Kong beat the shit outta each other (in the 60s.) I might make a follow-up post afterwards or just make a big thread after seeing more Godzilla film with my thoughts on what I've seen so far.

I sometimes feel a bit pleasured to keep up on art posting but I think I just need to relax and let this stuff come naturally. Watching movies is sometimes a nice way to clear my head.

My mom is also a big Stephen King fan. She used to have a huge pile of his books stacked in the bedroom, and there'd always be a Stephen King movie or mini-series playing in the living room.
I remember showing her the trailer to It 2017 and she got excited that it was coming out on her birthday.

It's interesting watching this and the original Godzilla back-to-back because they're both effects-heavy films featuring giant monsters that utilize different techniques. It kinda makes sense to mash these two together.

Okay but those effects are, like, genuinely awesome, not just the stop-motion stuff but the use of projections as well. The sequence with the stegosaurus was really cool.

On the topic of Godzilla Raids Again, I enjoyed the first half but man it should've ended at the Anguirus fight. It drags on for another 30 minutes just doing a cheap rehash of the first film. Who thought watching model planes blow up the side of a mountain for ten minutes was the better climax?

I also see how this influenced Shin Godzilla, as well as how this led to so many Godzilla horror fan content. There's just something about the way the Godzilla suit looks that's a bit unnerving. His beady eyes in some shots are kinda freaky.

On the topic of Godzilla 1954, I love how much more of a horror film it is. It really emphasizes the destruction and loss of life. It's not a fun watch, which is great.

I've already watched the first two films (Raids Again was a first-time watch), although the Showa collection doesn't include Rodan or Mothra so I need to seek those out someplace else. I also have never seen the original King Kong.

I've always dread award season. Film twitter turns into stan twitter and it's fucking awful.

Dude Michael Cranston and Taylor Paul were so good in Cracking Bad.

Like, I can imagine people enjoying these movies in pieces. The problem is that they're all like 3 hours long.

I felt a similar way when NFTs were a thing. I think you REALLY need to be online to fully know the dangers and ramifications of all this new tech. The majority of celebrities (especially older ones) are not online, and I think it's easier to sell these things to people than warn them against it.
