Don't talk to me for the next four years
Would someone please explain to me the stupid-ass sound effect they always play at baseball games that sounds like the alarm that goes off when the submarine you're on gets torpedoed?

"Hi, I'm Kiffa, and my turn-ons include stumbling upon a television station that's so new that they don't even have enough advertisers to fill the commercial breaks yet, and literally fill the time with an on-screen countdown telling you when the show will come back on."

Dear CBS:

If you ever have another #AmazingRace contestant as verbally abusive to their significant other as Jonathan has been, you have a *responsibility* to put up the phone number of a support line for victims of similar treatment.

I just lost a 6,000+ game winning streak on FreeCell because I accidentally hit 'New game' in the middle of a game I was still playing. -_-

Granted, I don't pay much attention to newer music (if something isn't on SNL, I generally don't hear it), but it feels like 30-40% of the newer songs I hear have something to do with drinking. Today I saw a kindergartener go nuts over the 'I take my whiskey neat' song. What's up with that?

On Saturday, I went to the excellent Titanic exhibition at the Saunders Castle in Boston. As a kid (years before the movie), I was obsessed with the subject, so it wasn't lost on me that I was there on the weekend closest to the anniversary. It happened 113 years ago tonight.

Found out the opening of the Saugus Raising Cane's, which was supposed to happen before the end of 2024, has been delayed YET AGAIN.

I'm starting to think it's gonna be like the Amazon Fresh store. The building will sit there unoccupied for a year, and then one day all the signage will just be gone

You're a day late for April Fools', computer log-in screen.

If you were wondering, as I was, what the *next* thing to kick my ass in 2025 was going to be, the answer is...

toothache

And the award for 'Most Unfortunate Thing Said On The Amazing Race This Week' goes to Han, for "Number two does not sit well in my stomach". #amazingrace #tar37 #tar

Am I watching Wheel of Fortune, or a Saturday Night Live sketch right now?

February started bad, and ended worse.

My dad passed away tonight. To say that we had our differences would be an understatement. I wish, and will always wish that we could have fixed some things. But no matter what, I loved him, and I knew that he loved me.

Rest well, Dad.

We're trying to close the deal on the condo. My mom's no longer able to take the lead on things like this, so I'm dealing with realtors & lawyers. The next couple of days are crucial.

And my dad just went into the hospital. Again. And I'm supposed to go down to the Cape to say 'goodbye'.

Again.

The USPS has put my address change request on hold pending 'additional identity verification'. I guess my license and the fact that they've been delivering me mail my entire adult life weren't enough.

Having to prove you're you is a real kick in the teeth when you desperately wish you weren't you.

It's looking like we have a buyer for the old place, after only a couple of days on the market. It's my nature to be anxious until everything's final, but they offered over the asking price, so they seem eager to get it.

Now pardon me while I knock on every wooden object I can find. #fingerscrossed

Remember when you didn't need one of these in a Dollar Tree store?

The move yesterday was brutal. The movers showed up at 8:45 AM, saying that loading the truck should take ~5 hrs, unloading another ~2.

They were with us until past 2 AM. And they didn't even get everything. We eventually had to tell them 'Just leave this stuff, we'll get it ourselves later'.

After everything that I've had to do to make this move happen, it's now less than 48 hours until the movers arrive. So, right on cue... I've developed a cough.

I cannot afford to be down for the count right now. There's still a lot to do, and I have to oversee the move on Saturday.

I've always had trouble throwing stuff out. Packing up to move, I found these items, c. 1999: A stub from seeing "Fight Club" in the theater. A receipt for anime VHS from Suncoast Video. An index card from when I was so new to computers that I wrote a reminder of how to cut and paste. #timecapsule

Hey Target in Saugus, MA (and probably most, if not all of your other stores)-- would it kill you to allow cash at *some* of your self-checkout registers?

I'm sick and tired of being made to feel 'less than' just because I want to use government-issued legal tender instead of plastic. :/

Transfer of the 'new' car over to me took place a little before 3:30 this afternoon. But a car's not truly yours until it you've personalized it a little bit, is it? That took place about twenty minutes ago. 😻

(Blurred license plate seemed necessary, but I mean, if you know me...)
