My inference was that they weren't focusing on wild bird reports because the labs were under pressure due to the high levels of routine surveillance on commercial farms.

I attempted to report 2 suspect cases in wild birds last winter, but I was told the protocol is that they only submit wild samples for bird flu testing if it is:
- 1 bird of prey
- 3 water fowl
- or 5 birds of any other kind.
I don't know if that protocol has changed this year.

Unfortunately your "I don't mind..." scenarios died some time ago: It's full-on BUY, BUY, BUY for AirBnB at this stage. The greed merchants have ruined it for everyone.

The current housing crisis, yes, but it'll end just in time for the consequences of the current attempts to deregulate planning to kick in, triggering a new, even better housing crisis.

We cannot rebuild any semblance of public health without the cooperation of many of the people - especially healthcare workers - who are currently in denial about Covid. I don't know how you get from here to there without some kind of reconciliation.

My admiration for the healthcare workers who continue to speak truth to power about Covid knows no bounds, but I retain a huge amount of sympathy in my heart for the workers who were failed by their leaders. There must be room for forgiveness if we are to right the course of public health.

FWIW I think healthcare workers felt abandoned from the outset. (No PPE, no vaccines, wrong advice re. spread.) By the time precautions were being dropped wholesale, healthcare workers had already been through a couple of years of mostly unprotected exposure and fatalism/resignation had taken root.
