#PedsIDSky #IDSky With the susceptibility profile a mo ago, undertreated complicated typhoid w suppurative complications (esp BM) was considered. No IV TMP-SMX, hence, meropenem + azithromycin empirically given, pending BCx ID results. Eventually showed same bug but S/R profile ⬇️ 🤯

Slight difference in defining nonsevere TB in children? 🤔 Here, CXR showing ≤1 lobe involvement is nonsevere. In The Union’s online course, nonsevere is <1 lobe (segmental) per WHO’s “confined to 1 lobe” definition, with ≥1 lobe already classified as severe TB. #TBSky

79 (8.6%) babies were meconium-stained and given abx. With this, the study also reiterated/cited the local neonatal sepsis CPG, that in the absence of symptoms, meconium staining is not an indication for prophylactic antibiotics. #PedsIDSky #AMSsky
