The 12 month duration makes me nervous. That’s a long time to deal with adverse effects if they should occur. Especially when good options exist that only last a month.

There is definitely a breed (likely body/muscle mass) difference in Cr, but not BUN. A normal yorkie has a Cr of 0.5 and a normal greyhound may be 1.8mg/dl. It’s a problem when folks wait for the yorkie’s Cr to exceed the RI before worrying about it.

It’s a dog. Upper limit of normal creatinine is 1.5, maybe 1.8ish. It’s a young puppy, so not much muscle mass- hence the BUN >> creatinine

Tried to listen to Clutch for the first time a few years ago. Started at the beginning. A Shogun Named Marcus ruined it. Once I heard the “bebopaloobop” I was done. Couldn’t listen anymore.

Absolutely nothing. More of a placeholder for people to enter this serum potassium to think about if the infused fluid needs any potassium supplementation. It’s not included in the calculations at all.

Awesome! I made a web based calculator based on Adrogué-Madias formula to chow the effect of fluids on serum Na. Didn’t account for urine output as we usually can’t get those results for a day or two. But it is a good teaching model. www.hemodialysisacademy.com/nacalc
