Veterinary nephrologist-urologist. Into old school D&D and the music I listened to in my 20s. Still shooting film.
Excited to have an article in this edition of Veterinary Focus. But c’mon- can’t you put an image of canine or feline kidneys on the cover?! #unipyramidal #unicalyceal

Really appreciate the CARPEDIEM- allowed us to treat hyperk (10mmol/L) AKI from reperfusion injury in a cat after its bilateral femoral arterial theomboemboli recanulized. Was able to use triple lumen jug cath for PIRRT. Blood flow of 15ml/min isn’t bad when your circuit is 32ml! #vetneph

Congrats to all new ACVIM diplomats! Especially Drs. Stephanie Skinner and Rae McAtee who I have the honor to work with every day!

Used to see a lot of pets receiving Azodyl without any other standard of care for CKD. Less so now. Never subjectively thought it did anything, but was $$ for pet owners. Formal urea kinetic analysis didn’t show any effect in dogs (2013 poster at ACVIM Forum)

Now that’s more like it! Plasma is looking great, hyperbilirubinemia is resolved and now regenerating!

More TPE for IMHA. It also seems to be the most effective means of correcting hyperbiliribinemia. Treatment #1 reduced it by 68%. Tx 2 in process. #vetneph because #vetheme isn’t always comfortable performing apheresis.

And thanks to the brave residents who participated in the inaugural Resident Bowl. Team Macula Densa won the Kidney Cup! (See, you would use the kreb’s cycle again in your life)
