I also thought a one-day boycott seemed pointless at first, but in trying to do it, I realize that I’m finding new ways to fill my needs without relying on big co’s. Going forward, I’ll use these places more or exclusively. So it actually does matter. Esp at scale, if a lot of us do this.
The scornful are short sighted. A one-day boycott is a toe in the water. If there is enough interest in today’s action, more and longer boycotts and demonstrations will follow. History shows us that sustained, peaceful protest by ever larger numbers of people achieves change when nothing else does.
