I think you need a new perspective! You've been following routines from family journals for years now, and it's the same, sad story you update me on week after week.” Bert unlocked and opened the door, beckoning Mori inside enthusiastically while keeping an eye out for customers he didn't need right now before promptly shutting and locking it behind him. “And I'd like to see you consider something different. Get some fire in you! The way things are right now, you're just going to keep following the past in that house no matter what I tell you, so I'm deeming that change in location is necessary. What worked for the ones before you may not be what works for you. You're, you know, a little different.”

I began a new bone, carving the first line into it. When I counted my pile, I had fifteen complete bones with twenty-four marks each. Starting this meant the three-hundred and sixty-first night since I started keeping track. Upon completing this bone… we would be approaching a year since we went missing as far as we could tell. It could be considered a miracle that we survived this long, but that would ignore our teamwork and labor. Neither of us could have done this on our own. Setting the bone down, I watched Etti from the cave entrance try to split wood with the axe I made several weeks ago. Even if he was still a thin, bookish man, there was strength and confidence building in his limbs that he never would have gained had we not met, had this not happened. It looked as though he was having some level of success for a change.

Lycia, Mana's mom, passed away when she was 4. Mana doesn't remember much about her, but a lot of the personality she grows into is very much her mom's.

Keahi adored her so dearly that he'd gotten his life's fill of relationships over their 14 years. +

I think my favorite part of this check is that there's evidently two wolves* inside of me.

One is a 2-4 ranked doggo and then other is a 14-?? ranked lupine monstrosity.

Mama's, I'm assuming?” He nodded as he clicked his tongue, flexing his arm slightly to gently trap the finger between the sleeve and his bicep. “Morzhoka! Behave yourself, I have class today,” Therion said with obvious feigned indignation as he moved to walk back to the front of their apartment to finish getting ready. “Tight-shirt-wearing vile harlot!” The yell came playfully from the kitchen.

A lighter thud soon followed, something like a heavy bag landing on ceramic. “I figured you'd want the space in there to work with.” “Bigger means I could be out longer, which is a risk. But… I suppose that could be a benefit this time,” Mori wondered aloud as he shifted on his heels to face Bert and the large ceramic bowl he'd dragged down from the second floor. “Oak and birch chips, incense, the long matches so you don't burn yourself further, and even a little pillow and blanket for when you inevitably fall over and sleep outside for the night,” Bert listed off the rest of what he'd gathered up, tallying each item on his fingers. “Did I miss anything?” “You know I don't need the incense, right?” “Yes, yes, but it just smells nice. It's for me, I'm babysitting you,” Bert let out an exaggerated whine while unpacking most of the bag and setting those items off to the side.

Eru got yesterday, so Chiyo gets today. Black is associated with the element of darkness and its deity, Erra.

Darkness is not inherently evil. It's that which we seek to know hidden from us. It's the state of being dead, something viewed as peaceful if not restful.

Little worldbuilding thread on Cructics (will add more as brain permits!).

But first some show and tell. I have two characters in generation one gang that are of Cructic descent: Sybil is full-blooded and Zola is mixed (Cructic mother, Genhokuan father).

Let's go with where white hair came from. The now "long dead" people of Rhir Sief the origin for this trait.

Like how we'd tone bleached hair in real life to produce this look, this comes from a purple pigment protein in the hair shaft that is perceived as white.

The hyalbo was a beluan foreign to Fannarey similarly given to children in the Crucible like the phoskipat. A creature with a calming aura and the ability to manipulate water and vegetation that started small but quickly grew to the size of a large dog with rounded features like coconuts, except for the majority of its back end and tail that was instead a mixture of lilac and mint colored smooth glass. Warm moss grew across its shoulders, trailing up its neck and down its forearms. Metallic floral filigree lined the border between the organic parts and the glass seamlessly, something impossible to the natural world. A bit flashy for a child's first companion was common Fannaren opinion, but the usefulness of a hyalbo could not be understated for what his plans were for their group. Where orange is decay, purple represents nature and tied to their concept of the "soul."

It's also a pretty rare eye color and people that have it usually can naturally do some fuckery regarding looking at souls. That might from Satu, idk.

Going with the zefhond for green! Like the kuraima, these are elemental beluan that take a cutesy "inactive" form to appeal to humans.

They're wind-aspected quick strikers. And unlike the kuraima, they've domesticated themselves enough that changing isn't as natural.

Orange is the symbolic color of the god Plyr and the embodiment of the "decay" element.

The "big three" components are rot, rust, and rime, which orange covers two of nicely.

It is most apparent in his eyes (when he's whole) and the rust on his iron/steel manacles.
