I was just reminded of the American University of Beirut's old museum's taxidermied animal collection, some of which still exists on the lower campus (the baby elephant lost its trunk at some point, I forget if it was due to an earthquak or just falling during a move)

Yeah! His family had been in the region since the 19th century. His historian dad Malcolm was born in Beirut too - though he's sadly more famous for dying there. It's a fantastic city.
