Opera enthusiast, Berliner
In Rome. Have had probably the most boring Scheherezade with the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. But I don’t blame the orchestra as they were technically great. however, the conductor needs to breathe with the orchestra. Lead them. Excite them. alas, Tugan Sokhiev did none.

This was exceptional. So much passion, raw energy, fire and emotion. Absolutely blown away

3rd evening of 8 of Beethoven cycle by Fabian Müller at the Pierre Boulez Saal. Today it was especially romantic Sonate A-Dur

Starting today Beethoven Klaviersonaten cycle (8 concert throughout the year) with Fabian Müller in Pierre Boulez Saal. He is performing his own bagatelles before each Beethoven. Love being in this hall. Very intimate atmosphere.

My first time hearing Busoni’s concert for piano, orchestra and men’s choir. Berliner Philharmoniker didn’t perform it since its premiere in 1904. We had Sakari Oramo conducting and Kirill Gerstein piano, and Rundfunkchor Berlin.

Anna Netrebko was on fire yesterday in Nabucco at the Staatsoper Berlin. The applause in the second act after her aria just wouldn’t stop. She was an amazing Abigail and also great orchestra.
I have seen Salsi in a better form. Absolutely useless and mainly static production.

Really liked this production of Respighi’s La Fiamma in Christoph Loy at Deutsche Oper Berlin. Great orchestra by Carlo Rizzi. Still upset that Stundyte cancelled, as I can only imagine how she would have acted the part. Shame that this opera is not performed more often.

Marek Janowski and Augustin Hadelich playing
Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy
Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in E minor, op. 64
and

I am in Kosovo and enjoying it quite a bit. Decided to pick couple of not very touristy destinations in August and so far it really paid of.

In Litomysl for Smetana festival - never heard of this festival before, so very curious about it. Seems to be visited by Czech audience as hardly heard any tourists.

This was such a great night of music. Marion Cotillard teared up in the end during the applause. If you have a chance to go and see it tomorrow or Sunday do that.

Arthur Honneger’s Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher with Berliner Pliharmoniker. Alan Gilbert conducting and Marion Cotillard as Jeanne d’Arc

After returning from Neapel discovered new Deutsche Oper Berlin season program in my mail, but really disappointed. la Fiamma with Stundyte seems to be the only real highlight. Only 3-4 revivals that are well cast. I used to buy 20+ tickets every season

Anna Netrebko is a magnificent Gioconda. What a great role for her voice. It is mature in a good sense but also light at the same time
April 10, 2024 at 10:35 PM
Yesterday Roma, today Napoli
La Gioconda with Netrebko, Kaufmann and Tezier

I have seen Lisette Oropesa in several roles and always great, but tonight it was exceptional. That’s bel canto at its best. Brava

I have planned this trip to Vienna mainly because I wanted to see Animal Farm a new opera that premiered last year in Amsterdam. Animal Farm by Alexander Raskatov based on Orwell’s novel. Production by Damiano Michieletto
