In Rome. Have had probably the most boring Scheherezade with the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. But I don’t blame the orchestra as they were technically great. however, the conductor needs to breathe with the orchestra. Lead them. Excite them. alas, Tugan Sokhiev did none.

Swapped Berlin’s gloom for Sevilla’s sunshine ☀️ and decided to catch a flamenco show 💃. Saw one last year in Granada, so curious to compare—will Sevilla bring the same fire? 🔥

Deleted my twitter today and decided to give Blue sky another shot. Hopefully this place will not become as toxic

Starting today Beethoven Klaviersonaten cycle (8 concert throughout the year) with Fabian Müller in Pierre Boulez Saal. He is performing his own bagatelles before each Beethoven. Love being in this hall. Very intimate atmosphere.

My first time hearing Busoni’s concert for piano, orchestra and men’s choir. Berliner Philharmoniker didn’t perform it since its premiere in 1904. We had Sakari Oramo conducting and Kirill Gerstein piano, and Rundfunkchor Berlin.

Anna Netrebko was on fire yesterday in Nabucco at the Staatsoper Berlin. The applause in the second act after her aria just wouldn’t stop. She was an amazing Abigail and also great orchestra.
I have seen Salsi in a better form. Absolutely useless and mainly static production.

Really liked this production of Respighi’s La Fiamma in Christoph Loy at Deutsche Oper Berlin. Great orchestra by Carlo Rizzi. Still upset that Stundyte cancelled, as I can only imagine how she would have acted the part. Shame that this opera is not performed more often.

I am in Kosovo and enjoying it quite a bit. Decided to pick couple of not very touristy destinations in August and so far it really paid of.

In Litomysl for Smetana festival - never heard of this festival before, so very curious about it. Seems to be visited by Czech audience as hardly heard any tourists.

Every year I have used to order several subscriptions with Berliner Philharmoniker. This year I have decided to go for a flex package instead of subscriptions. I think this was a better deal even if discount is much smaller (15% if you book 9 tickets, which I booked) but I could pick all concerts

Arthur Honneger’s Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher with Berliner Pliharmoniker. Alan Gilbert conducting and Marion Cotillard as Jeanne d’Arc

After returning from Neapel discovered new Deutsche Oper Berlin season program in my mail, but really disappointed. la Fiamma with Stundyte seems to be the only real highlight. Only 3-4 revivals that are well cast. I used to buy 20+ tickets every season

Today it is Anna Bolena at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and I can finally hear Xabier Anduaga! What a voice. Sign me up to his fan club please. And otherwise great singing so far from the entire cast.

I went to see new Pique Dame at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. I wanted to see Radvanovsky as Liza but she cancelled last minute. The singing was so bad that i left after 40 minutes. I don’t usually do this, but this was borderline amateurish. Especially singers and the chorus, but also production

I have planned this trip to Vienna mainly because I wanted to see Animal Farm a new opera that premiered last year in Amsterdam. Animal Farm by Alexander Raskatov based on Orwell’s novel. Production by Damiano Michieletto

Decided to dedicate today to Gustav Klimt and Secession: first stop was in Belvedere. First you can see the Kiss and then all the people around it 😅
