Low-quality video of a shortnose gar in honor of high-quality #garweek. This fish was spotted in the Grand River (MI) during the @amfisheriessoc.bsky.social meeting in 2023, which also happened to be the same week I met @solomonrdavid.bsky.social for the first time! #52FishyFridays 🐟🐠

I had the incredible opportunity to stock some fish by plane this week! Shown here is ~80 pounds of small brook trout being dropped from the plane into a lake deep in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for anglers to enjoy. #52FishyFridays 🐟🐠

Spent the last three days tagging, scanning, measuring, and stocking nearly 2,700 muskellunge to supplement natural reproduction and improve angling opportunities in Minnesota! #52FishyFridays 🐟🐠🎣

This smallmouth bass that was caught in a gill net turned into a big meal for some invasive rusty crayfish recently. In the words of Michael Scott, “oh how the turn tables.” #52fishyfridays 🐟🐠

No fish for #52FishyFridays this week because my first Minnesota moose encounter was too cool not to share! This cow and calf made their way along the shoreline as we prepped sampling gear at an abandoned campsite in the Boundary Waters.

Crazy to think that these little muskellunge “frylings” could grow to over 50 inches! These fish were stocked into rearing ponds recently to grow until October. #52FishyFridays 🐟🎣
