Lesson planning seems like an exercise in futility when admin sends an email saying that 4 days will be screwed up next week for testing. But only for 9th and 10th grade. Oh, and the 2 full days this week for mandatory student workshop/discussion groups.

Me too! Continuing success oh DH’s cancer treatment, successful audition for oldest, good grad school experience for middle, new job for youngest. All that will make my life easier!

Is it really a midterm (Honors Biology) if you don't have to wake up 2 students in the middle of the test? (Better than the 7 kids I had to wake up in Monday's midterm.)

I used half of my Meyer lemon crop (i.e. 2 lemons) and made lemon curd. It's really tasty.... now to figure out how to use it.

I did this with my HBio class today in 3 stages: "just your brain" labeling. Before I gave them the key words, I had them highlight their original info. Used key word list to add more info. Finally, used notebook to add anything else. Great to see what they knew (not much) and how much they added.
Y12 starter open ended task. Given just the diagram to add as many labels and facts as they could. Key word list provided for when they’ve exhausted their memory. All engaged.

Call me Sisyphus, day 6854. Work on today's backlog: putting Nov 13's notebook checks in online gradebook. Still in backlog: short answer part of 130 pre-break tests. New to backlog: today's vocab quiz and 2 formative assessments to mark. I think that boulder is going to roll right over me tomorrow.

First they fed us a delicious Thanksgiving lunch, and now we get a pie to take home for Thanksgiving! I really like having a culinary program at my high school.

We got to do a thing last night! So interesting to see everything that goes on behind the scenes. Forevermore I will be impressed by how the crew breaks down and sets up the set pieces and gets it all done during the commercial break.

As always, writing lesson plans and making copies for a day off takes more effort than actually showing up and teaching.
But....hubby scored tickets for the dress rehearsal of Saturday Night Live this weekend, so we're headed to the Big Apple! 🗽
