Love Rising tide. It opened my eyes to Herbert Hoover’s abilities. It’s too bad he wasn’t up to the challenge of the presidency as it is all most people know about an otherwise amazing career of private and public service.

Trump vetoing the release of the Epstein files over the request of a large portion of the House and Senate would be extremely unpopular. It’s an issue his base has wanted for years and was part of the basis for Qanon. It would be a huge political win for the Dems and they could run on it 2026/28.

If Trump molested someone, I’m sure he’s had them sign a very lucrative NDA. He loves NDAs.

The Department of Justice has extensive controls to log evidence and jail time if someone tampers with official case documents. It would be extremely difficult to do a mass coverup as most career civil servants aren’t willing to risk jail time and their pension for something likely to be caught.

They think if they get the Republicans to vote against ACA then some voters will switch sides. The problem is most voters don’t follow politics close enough to know about a specific vote and the ones who do watch Fox News who will explain why the increased premiums are the Democrat’s fault.

The US Senate continues to prove it is one of the worst ideas our founders ever had. It’s not representative of the American people and only exists as a roadblock to change. It is full of out of touch pols who use their position to ensure reelection. True patriots know when it is time to step aside

The pessimistic part of my brain wonders if Senate Dems are making the determination that if they fix the issue now, they can’t run on it in 2026. The Senate ‘leaders’ always seem more interested in saving their powder as they are afraid to fight.

It amazes me no one had come up with an app that mimics Facebook’s original purpose. There is demand for connection which means you can make money without scamming your users. Meta only cares about the next earnings call. They are setting themselves up for a rapid decline as you can’t scam forever.

Every week they relay to me a story that sounds outrageous and I ask them who wrote the story. They look it up, it’s always some sketchy source and I tell them it’s fake. It makes them mad every time. I’m trying to get them to use a trustworthy news aggregator instead but it’s been a slow process.

I used Facebook far longer than made sense mainly because my parents use it to share stories and pictures. I deleted it when I got 10 scam posts for every 1 legitimate post. I’ve tried to get my parents to quit it too but they’re addicted to constant flow of fake scam stories.

Did you miss his point about brands? Georgia and Florida are two of the biggest brands in cfb. I rarely watch either team any other time but love seeing two old blue bloods playing each other in a rivalry game.

It makes sense with mechanization of agriculture but it still surprised me as I assumed the towns in these counties would make up the difference. People have moved from these towns to bigger cities. Go to any of these small towns and you can feel the anger of those who remain.

I was surprised when working on my family’s genealogy how many counties in the rural Midwest have a similar population now to what existed in 1850.

Anyone paying attention knew when SoaceX won the contract they couldn’t accomplish their timeline. They massively underbid their costs knowing $3 billion for Starship from government was better than nothing and it cut out better options. This is why China will likely be the next on the moon.

People didn’t want ACA at the time. Go back and look at the polls when it passed and you’ll see the Dems paid at the ballot box for the next two elections. It took people time to get it. It’s the one time I remember the Dems being leaders but if you want a villain look to Joe Lieberman actions.

Those complaining about the Democrats procrastinating with a filing, Grijalva’s win was only certified today. This is an administrative step that takes about a month but normal practice is to seat rep is as soon as results are known. But the state has no legal basis for filing until certification.

I think this would be obvious but it is not a good idea for someone trying to win a peace prize to announce your military is no longer defensive in nature but on a more antagonistic WAR footing.
October 10, 2025 at 2:02 PM
You don’t get a peace prize by blowing up boats in international waters with no legal basis. The proper method is to board and prosecute based on evidence but Mr. ‘Desperate for a Nobel’ can’t be bothered with following laws.
October 9, 2025 at 5:08 PM
That is no solution and anyone calling for it needs to go back and read some history books. Because the end result is competing military juntas, lots of blood, and in the end a military dictator ‘keeping the peace’. Things are bad now but a coup would certainly make it worse.

We don’t want them resigning. That’s what Trump wants as it will leave a group of hardline MAGA supporters in control of the military.
September 30, 2025 at 5:56 PM
Agreed but … how hard would it be for the Dem leadership to pick their best public speakers & release a speech every day attacking the latest Republican outrage. Some in Congress do respond but nothing official. That’s because the Dems prefer to make safe choices rather than meet force with force.

J&J spun off Tylenol and other health brands into a separately traded public company called Kenvue in 2023.

Kenvue makes Tylenol.

The Dems have to stop with their incessant ‘my turn’ mentality. It’s why no one ran against Hillary on 2016 and why Biden felt entitled to run again in 2024. It’s why most of Congress leadership is filled with with uninspiring old men even though committees are filled with talent. It has to change.
