Just spent some time with Kaz Nejatian ahead of his first earnings call as CEO of Opendoor, the once struggling tech company that’s been revived by retail traders. Story TK on @sfstandard

Good that the National Guard is being called off. Questions about how this Lurie/Trump call came about. We did a poll of 1,000 readers yesterday RE: whether Daniel Lurie should take a more confrontational stance toward the administration.

What an MLS season final aka Decision Day. San Jose has done their job, beating ATX 2-1. But the players are still on the field watching the RSL/STL game which is tied going into stoppage time.

Saw this walking around San Francisco today. Daniel Lurie’s embrace of business has gone way too far IMO.

Today is the last day Rabia and Mohammad Waqar are operating their Mashaallah Halal restaurant inside the SF Centre Mall.

Even though the property has been struggling, it’s here where they became bonafide stars. Thankfully, they’ll only be down the street on Fifth & Folsom!

San Jose is down 3-1 to St. Louis City at HT. Deflating. The Quakes are finishing their season on a free fall and are simply getting outplayed by everyone around them in the table. This was a must-win and they’ve conceded 3 very soft goals. Lots for Arena to ponder…

Natalie Nakase after losing G2 by a point: "Taking the the last shot... that's something in your DNA. I didn't have that. And that's what I was telling [Cecilia]. Like, hey, you're the player I always wanted to be. I could never elevate like that. I was too small."

Janelle Salaün, who starts another season overseas in 10 days:

“The people in this group are special…Yes, we don’t have big names. Yes, there were no stars. But we’re f*cking underdogs. We’re fire.”

Huge standing ovation for these women despite falling just short. Incredible atmosphere in San Jose befitting of how this team has been embraced by the entire Bay Area.

Loud ovation from the 50,978 for Sonny coming off in the 80th minute. Many came to see the former Spurs star get on the ball, but he didn’t have to. LAFC did all of their damage in the first 15 mins and sat back as SJ possessed; trying to figure out their own style of play.

The Son Heung-min tour makes its biggest stop yet, in Santa Clara, where some 50,000 fans just watched the Korean superstar score in 0:55 seconds.

Absolute money DP signing.

No Ionescu tonight but the Valkyries — the 2nd highest rated defense in the WNBA — are mauling the NY Liberty, holding them to 29% and single digits in the 2Q. Big implications for the standings.

The view takes a little getting used to, but the pitch doesn’t look out of place at Oracle Park. 🌞

First look at the soccer pitch at Oracle Park where Bay FC will host the Washington Spirit in the largest attended game in NWSL history.

Leslie Osborne: “Two years from now, let’s sell out Levi’s Stadium.”

Good crowd today at PayPal park, where many have come to see Mexican star Chucky Lozano. Except he’s not playing — so we’re stuck with the First Team All Nordics of San Diego 🇩🇰🇫🇮

These are guys are doin it on a hot day in Cali tho. Give them credit 😅

Listen to this crowd. The Valkyries have done what they’ve been doing all season at home — which is to storm back in the 2nd half behind tough defense and streaky shotmaking.

Step aside The Brutalist. Daddy has a new movie score to write to. 😆

Players from the San Francisco Pioneers and San Jose Lasers in the housssseeee! 🙌

Say what you will about over saturation of soccer this summer, but there’s a great crowd tonight for SJ v NYRB. Bruce Arena has found his favorite XI and Forsberg + Choupo-Moting are in the house.

The San Jose end of the BART line is actually full on a Sunday morning for people coming up to the city for Pride 🥹

Chase Center feels more like ROARacle when the Valkyries play.

Interesting choice by the Valkyries/Chase Center events staff tonight passing out melatonin to the fans 👀

Omg Kamaiyah is here 🔥

Angel Reese gets a loud cheer from the Chase Center crowd. The Valkyries are a tough test for this struggling Chicago team.

Don’t sleep on the new age Chinese banquet hall. They’ll put the nba draft on the main screen during dinner service. No better way to watch the Warriors trade back into the 2nd round if you ask me…
