Jaws turned 50 today, and back when Jaws was only 38 me and my fake-cousin Scott executed this truly immersive holiday card to remind all our friends and family that Amity does mean friendship after all.

I was privileged to be the worst player on a VERY talented baseball team. Today is the 25th anniversary of the Towson Generals winning the school's first baseball state title. I couldn't make it back east for the celebration earlier this month, so I wrote my guys a letter of gratitude.

This is a photo of the first half of the letter, which reads: Dear 2000 State Champion Generals, My dudes! While I can only be with you in spirit to celebrate our remarkable championship run a quarter century ago, I want you to know that just thinking about that final spring at Towson makes me smile. That season was the best! I got to play ball with a great bunch of guys, some I’ve known since kindergarten, on the way to winning the state championship. Seriously, how cool is that? If I were there with you right now, I’d probably reminisce with you about… -Dre’s state-record three consecutive no-hitters. -How small those hats were. They were seriously tiny, right? -When half the team got suspended for a game for skipping school, and we still wrecked Loch Raven. -Ending Hereford’s season, on prom night, with our diabolical secret weapon - the push bunt. -Playing Catonsville when Flave said the only acceptable outcomes were to lose this game, so we could enjoy our summer, or win the whole thing… just before turning an unassisted double play. -Advancing to the state tournament and avenging one of only four losses by winning a rematch against Landsdowne in the rain. -When Coach Yosaca got fed up with our shenanigans and our captains pulled us together to finish our final practice. -How Coach Yosaca, Mike, and I all realized I needed glasses while warming up in the bullpen against Walkersville. -Dre’s strategic absence from graduation rehearsal the next day, making him, by default, the last person to walk across the stage… to a huge ovation. Unable to attend the celebration of the 25th anniversary of our championship at the alumni game this year, I wrote my teammates a letter. This is a photo of the second half of the letter, which reads: "I could keep going, but I’ll leave that to you all. So to everybody on that team – Coaches Ridley, Walters, Kearney, our manager James; Karsos, Pjura, Evan, Mervo, Oliver, Neil, Flave, Little Goods, Big Goods, Sweet Lew, Schaffner, Dave, Kelly, Dre, Jimmy, Kras, Willis, Ryno and my precious little man, Jared: thank you. I felt grateful to be along for the ride because even if I wasn’t the most talented guy on the team, I always felt like I was part of the team. And lastly, of course, Coach Yosca: thanks for keeping me around. You pulled me aside one practice before the season and said something like, “You’re a good shit, you work hard, and you’re kinda funny. If you’re okay not playing much, what the hell.” What the hell indeed, coach. By the way, I still have the coach's award you gave me at the end of the season, which is a baseball with a Sharpie inscription reading: “Awarded to Kevin Conner (mispelled) for never-ending efforts to help his team and coaches. Success in games comes from good warm-ups.” Spelling aside, I took that message to heart, and it’s never failed me. I love all you guys. Connor, out."
