The struggle is real to find something good each day. Mostly I'm hunkering down working or rage scrolling. I'm getting back in shape and avoiding alcohol, sugar, most processed foods, etc. (ugh). But, that doesn't stop me from wanting this good. Hopefully soon.

I usually read at night instead of watching TV. Given the state of *things*, I needed an escape so I started @johnconroe01.bsky.social "The Demon Accords Series" because I wanted fast paced stories of someone just kicking evil ass. In just two weeks I'm 7 books in and it fits the bill.

As I've noted, I'm a 60s spy spoof fan. But that comes from a love of James Bond. Not that he needs defending but, I think Timothy Dalton was a really good Bond and it was the 80s production and writing that mostly failed him.

Best of his two? The Living Daylights. Give it a rewatch.

Ars Gratia Artis - that, to me, is folk and outsider art. For some artists, it's a compulsion. For others, it's their core and why they keep going. No on exemplified this more than the late Daniel Johnston. I miss his simplicity and pureness, in his music and his visual art.

Today's #DailyGood I discovered on my refrigerator. Both my kids (teens) love to draw and are more artistic than I am. I found this doodle on the fridge from my youngest (15), which I first thought was a kids book illustration. She was trying out new markers. Very cute.

I really enjoyed this collaboration. I've been a @richardkadrey.bsky.social fan for years (Sandman Slim) but was not familiar with Cassandra Khaw - but I will check her work out now. A wild ride with a great dose of gritty cosmic and eldritch horror.

Like most people, come January I'm looking to shed a few pounds and start the year right. I do Dry January, cut out sugar, most carbs, and put my bike up on the trainer and get to work. That's must be why I am craving my favorite, hard-to-find candy bar.

I'm a mid-century modern/googie/atomic/space age/tiki/ exotica/50s&60s art, music, style, design and culture fan. And I love current artists in this style & other sub-cultures (low-brow, surf, rockabilly, etc). One of these is Scooter, whose Mid-Mod Happy Hour book is a current favorite.

Coming in late to today's #DailyGood but it's an important one...

Fitted sheets with labels indicating which end it goes at the top or bottom of the bed. This is very important in king sized beds as they're nearly square. Thank you companies that care!

Since I'm on a 60s movie kick, I'm a huge fan of 60s spy spoofs, too (Matt Helm, Derek Flint, etc). And also this one - with an incomprehensible plot, horrid action scenes, and wooden villains But, lots of bikini assassins plus a Walker Brothers title tune!

I have the feeling I will be needing a lot of comedy in the coming year. Comedies of the 50s and 60s are some of my favorites and this is definite top 5. Fantastic cast, great score, and great direction from Normal Jewison.

I never made it to Montana. I had a planned trip once but of course work got in the way. I was always drawn to the landscapes of Russell Chatham and wanted to experience the inspiration firsthand. There's still time.

I took a day break after Christmas to clear my head of Christmas things. I love a good mystery and often read them during the New Year as winter is a great time to get cozy with a book. This is a favorite.

We bought an advent calendar from China. The quality is crap, you can't even read the printing. Don't even ask about the figures. But, it is our new favorite #ChristmasGood and our children will be fighting over it for years to come! Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve. That always meant family. But now it's a quick visit and back home where I spend a good portion of the night wrapping presents and watching Christmas specials. This not my favorite but it's a traditional #ChristmasGood.

We're in the holiday home stretch where what I really want to do is just slow down but there's always too much to do. This #ChristmasGood I'll always pause for and it allows me to enjoy the season once again. The Ghost of Christmas Present is a fave.

You can still find a few attempts at the format but the prevalence is not what it was in the 60s and 70s. Today's #ChristmasGood laments the loss of the holiday variety show that dominated seasonal TV - Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, etc.
