Never Again: Why I Refuse to Carry the Burden of Caregiving

I was writing a book about how to survive family illness and Caregiving, but now I know I should have walked away. Here's why.

I'm not about to let our Premier drag Alberta out of Canada with her far-fetched fantasy of joining the U.S.

That’s why I’ve signed up to volunteer for the Forever Canadian campaign. Hat tip to @lukaszukab.bsky.social

Hopefully Apple or cell carriers do something about this.

Noticed this sign on a neighbour’s lawn. The QR code goes here: www.reddeerfirefighters.ca

I have been using and paying for (and will continue to) @skeetsapp.com partly for this feature. It's really important that I see posts from certain people.

Love the thoughtful feature of choosing posts and/or replies!

I am PROUD to be CANADIAN!

Our country is far from perfect, and more certainly needs to be done, especially in the area of Reconciliation.

Let's pressure those in power to do more.

For today, though, let's celebrate our beautiful country, despite its flaws.

#protip don't try to get ChatGPT to help with rearranging a room. It appears to function well with text-based measurements, but it becomes completely confused when generating sketch images.

For a bed, use the 3D room view feature on Amazon with a random mattress (e.g., queen). Works great!

Just helped Mom carefully and slowly bring her antique writing desk upstairs to the main floor suite. It's basically for her MacBook Air now, but she grew up doing remote learning using it in Germany, Cuba, Russia, and other places, then mailing in her work. You know, when stuff was built to last.

So...I'm using a Wi-Fi to ethernet adapter Mom has used on house sits. Half the speed, but 340Mbps, and it's solid. Very grateful we had it on hand! I will book a tech tomorrow for later this week.

Making progress on setting up my home office upstairs again. The only real hiccup is that the ethernet jack isn't working. It reminds me that the tenants had the Shaw tech set things up to suit their needs.

Just about ready to call it a day with the move upstairs. Home office desk assembled. Will setup computers tomorrow.

Movers are done. Just larger items. I’ll put in the sweat equity for the rest. Mom can do smaller items. Nala is quite happy to be back in this suite!

This survey frames the issue around "sexually explicit content" in school libraries. That's NOT the issue at all. In fact, these are leading questions to suit their narrative.

They want to ban 2SLGBTQS+ books. Period.

NO ONE will say yes to this question for any age group, for example.

Assembled my new computer chair this week. The old one lasted 6 years. It was time.

Testing. Is this thing on?

Trying out Micro.blog to occasionally share my thoughts and cross-post to Mastodon and Bluesky while enjoying the other benefits of posting from here instead.

Anyway, here are photos of my cat and a neighborhood rabbit!

Spotted this on Mastodon.

You have more in common with every homeless person than you do with any billionaire.

@deck.blue Hi Gil. I'm still encountering these issues when composing a new post.

When I type a user name and choose the correct one from the suggested list, I can no longer type or do anything else with that post.

When I type a long post, the last line becomes somewhat hidden.

I don't know why you would think presenting this full screen for no apparent reason is acceptable.

It seems to be an intermittent issue.

@skeetsapp.com I have purchased your monthly subscription, and it seems to recognize that, but I’m not getting push notifications.

I get the “try it free” page when I tap “manage my subscription”.

Also, tapping a username to send a post doesn’t work.

Saw this on Mastodon. One of the best so far.

Can you imagine if this parking lot and every parking lot had solar panels?

In case this process is unclear, click "subscribe" to this list on the web app (as far as I can tell), then click "block accounts".
