With Chinese drones banned, I hope Skydio gets back in the consumer drone game. They made the best autonomous tracking drone I've used. www.politico.com/news/2025/12...
FCC bans foreign-made drones over national security, spying concerns
The ruling will hit Chinese drone-maker DJI the hardest.

Watching the Rivian Autonomy livestream. Big fan of Lidar on the R2. Can't wait.

I just used Gemini to create a more useful dashboard for Gemini. This isn't hard, Google. Give us a better way to manage all our chats.

Google should release a stripped down version of Chrome powered by Gemini to compete against AI browsers. It could be used for experimental features like Inbox did for gmail all those years ago.

I wanted a wow feature on the Galaxy XR. Didn't see one. No mention if android notifications are synced across devices. No mention of phone screen continuity. No concrete examples of expanding my desktop to multiple virtual monitors. I'm excited about the platform's future, but this is no Vision Pro

Trump needs to get involved in shutdown negotiations ONLY because GOP congresspeople have ceded their power to him. He's neutered them so thoroughly they can't do their own jobs without his signature. It's sad. www.cnn.com/2025/10/21/p...
‘We absolutely need him’: Some in GOP say it’s time for Trump to get involved in shutdown talks even as leaders rebuff idea | CNN Politics
Republican leaders have stuck to a straightforward position in their standoff with Democrats over government funding: No negotiations until the shutdown ends.

The most astonishing aspect of Trump Authoritarianism is that so many people, including Republicans in congress, are happy about it. They don't see it as an abuse of power or anti-American or anti-Constitution. They love the dominance. It's sick and sad. I don't know how they can be swayed.

Google has been teasing proactive assistants for what feels like a decade. Still waiting. Still hopeful. #googleio

I am SO excited about Android XR. Glad they teased it on the Android show.

Feels weird that Whoop didn't tell us exactly which sensors have been updated in the Whoop 5. I'd like to know which data will improve. I know there's a lot of algorithmic improvements happening, but is the underlying data more accurate now? Or are there just additional sensors for new data points?

Trying to get back into coding after 9 years away. So many AI tools now. For the first time in my life, I'm not sure I can keep up with the technology. Or maybe I don't have the energy. Or the time. Either way, it's dispiriting.

If DOJ forces Google to sell Chrome, I'll finally have a good reason to use Zen Browser more often.

Google Gemini should use some of its AI prowess to better sort my long list of chats. Deep research on carbon removal techniques should probably be further up the list than that time last week I added a task for turning up the heat when I get home.

I know AI is coming to take it all away, but last night I successfully ran a CI script to publish a SolidJS app on Netlify for the first time. Feeling particularly proud of myself. I'll add it to my list of nearly obsolete skills.

It's tragic and awful and terrifying and infuriating.
The student paper at the college at which I teach reports a "tsunami of takedown requests" from international students terrified of being targeted for innocuous, legitimate op-eds & opinions.. Many ask in person--leave no trace in writing. Reminds me of my father's account of studying in the USSR.

2025 and still dreaming of a Microsoft Surface Studio powered by an upgradable mini PC. And maybe a Surface Neo, too, since we're dreaming.

I love this analogy.
Another analogy he had which was brilliant was playing a game of Hearts. He says, have you ever played a game of Hearts? And there's this thing called shooting the moon and it's rare, and usually you're just playing normal hearts.

Maybe it's just me, but giving someone with a third grade vocabulary the ability to greatly impact the global economy seems a bit... Let's be nice and say 'naive.'

Been experimenting with AI as I learn SolidJS. At times, it's the most amazing tool for debugging. Helps you identify a problem and provides code updates to fix it. At other times, it slowly leads you down the wrong path, and you don't know it until an hour has passed and its logic starts looping.
